105.1 WMGC HD2 off the air?

Unread post by Rich S »

So...I just got a new car over the weekend and noticed yesterday no 105.1 HD2 (ESPN Radio.) Yes, my new car does still have HD radio, but for some reason, 105.1 HD2 no longer shows up on the list of stations. Can anyone else confirm? I do recall that when 105.1 flipped to sports the HD2 80's feed lasted for another 4 months. Maybe this is the same thing with ESPN after the flip to the bounce? Still surprised that they didn't put another stream on.

In the Toledo market, Cumulus killed all HD broadcasts except WQQO-HD2 to feed the 100.7FM translator.
Clear Channel/iHeart killed off the two AM-HD signals but run the AM's on the HD-2 of WRVF and WIOT (stereo audio from WSPD on WRVF and Fox Sports on WIOT) and feed their hip-hop FM translator from WVKS-HD2.

Love driving thru Detroit for all the HD signals, BUT once I get past the downriver area and hit Monroe, they're all gone (except 560AM days). Still don't understand why WWJ runs HD- it is so bassy it rumbles the speakers and doesn't add anything- they ought to at least run stereo liners or something, likewise Monroe 560 running HD to buzz-up CKWW on 580. Now when it was Honey 560 and played stereo music, that was sweet.
