It's apparently been off the air for several months now. The 100.3 FM translator is still operating (illegally) and is still mentioning 1580 AM on the air.
Anyone know what's up?

Re: "Immigrants are poisoning the blood of this country"
If you've convinced yourself that Trump is Hitler, fine. I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise, however ridiculous I may find the comparison to be. I'm done arguing this point. You simply refuse to admit these are problematic statements that are contrary to the founding principles of this ...

I guess I wasn't the only one who stopped listening after Len O'Kelly's ousting. Toward the end of my time at Aquinas (I graduated in 2002), I recall the station tightening up its playlist, dropping a lot of the pre-Beatles music they had played, getting rid of features like the Top 5 at 5 (where th...

Re: Pop songs are getting WAY shorter
At this rate, American Top 40 could easily go back to being a three-hour show, as it was before 1978. One less hour of Ryan Seacrap might actually be a good thing.

Can't wait to see how "Ms Warmth" explains this one.

Representing the younger generation, apparently: Elementary/Middle School: Q95, WJOI, WNIC, WQRS High School: 93-1 DRQ, 93-9 The River, Q95-5, Planet 96.3, V98.7, WNIC, WOMC, WQRS (I also listened to The Edge some after WQRS died) College (Grand Rapids): 95.7 W-Lite, I-96, 98.7 WFGR (then classical)...

Re: 96.3 bought by IHeart?
Didn't Rick also work at WKQI for a while? According to back issues of R&R on Dave Gleason's site, Rick Gillette programmed Q95-5 from December 1997 to July or August of 1998. I guess that explains why the station started sounding a lot more staid and conservative musically by that fall (i.e. getti...

Brenda Lee rewrites the history books
"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," recorded in 1958 when Brenda Lee was 13 (she's now about to turn 79), has reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, her first #1 hit since "I Want to Be Wanted" 63 years ago. The first time it charted (in 1960), it peaked at #14. It's recharted and climbed as high as ...

Re: Peggy 99.1 Winnipeg to flip to Country
CHR is in such a rut that it's drawing from Country - probably more than at any time since the early '80s (even the Faith Hill/Shania Twain crossover era in the late '09s/early '00s wasn't this big). Look at the crossover success of Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs this year. A year ago at this time, i...

Re: Family Life Radio Billboards
I once picked up WUGN on a hot summer afternoon in Sandusky, Ohio. My mom was with me at the time and couldn't believe it when I told her the signal was coming from Midland, Michigan. They also have a translator in Lansing on first adjacent 99.9 (technically translating daytimer 1110 WUNN). 99.7 act...

Re: 96.7 W244EN Flint/Lapeer. Junkalator
The outer contours receive cochannel interference in some areas from CHYR-FM, WRGZ, and other stations on 96.7, and translators in the Detroit Area on 96.7. But if you are on the right side of the hills, you can hear it, and quite quickly change over to the other 96.7 facilities as you get to the o...

Peggy 99.1 Winnipeg to flip to Country
For the second time in as many months, a Soft AC station in a major Canadian market is going Country. First, Toronto rimshot Lite 88.5 (formerly The Jewel) became Hot Country 88.5. Now Winnipeg's Peggy @ 99.1, currently in all-Christmas mode, is slated to flip to Country 99 after Boxing Day. https:/...

Re: Worst songs you've ever heard.
I like Whitney, but her version of I Will Always Love You misses the mark. It's all about her flexing her vocal muscle and not about finding an appropriate interpretation of the lyric. Dolly's 1982 version is the best one IMO. On my list of legitimately horrible songs/recordings: Michael Bolton's ve...

Re: WJOI 97fm 1987
Once in a blue moon I used to listen to WKEZ 96.1 from Holland. I could tolerate it in small doses; stationality was nowhere nearly as bland as WJOI. WKEZ used to play quite a few instrumental remakes of mainstream hit songs as part of its music mix. Some airchecks I heard of the old 93.1 WLTI were...
