I never understood this whole "i'd rather have nothing, than part of something" attitude in terms of revenue, that Decades TV seems to have....

Re: ATSC 3.0 To Be Deployed In 40 U.S. Markets By End Of 2020
that's only PARTLY correct. The x.1 subchannels have to be simulcast in ATSC 1.0. all the digital subchannels like x.2 and x.3 don't have to be (and might have to be dropped if a channel agrees to simulcast a partner)

Re: A CBS News anchor shake-up could be in the works
I don't think television news will *entirely* vanish... however, it will radically change and evolve into more of an on-demand style of service, like YouTube: individual byte-size stories available for consumption whenever you need, as opposed to having to sit through an entire 30- or 60-minute prog...

Re: ATSC 3.0 To Be Deployed In 40 U.S. Markets By End Of 2020
ATSC's finalized now, and it will NOT be backwards compatible. It uses a different modulation scheme (COFDM vs. 8-VSB) and a different video codec (H.265/Scalable HEVC MPEG Program Stream vs. MPEG-2 Transport Stream)... That means we'll need either new sets, or converter boxes... but this time aroun...

Re: New WOIO logo
it's not bad... though I admit, i kinda liked their serif font on their previous logo a bit more... the new one just looks a bit too clean and sanitized for my liking... almost like WBZ's logo.... or the ones you see in Bermuda and the UK

Re: Detroit OTA schedule for 7/1/1995
I loved watching cartoons back in the late 1980s and 1990s.... man, that was a wonderful era for animation.. he-man, the raccoons, eek! the cat, ducktales, iron man, reboot... ohh man, i miss when 62 aired Swat Kats! that show kicked ass... too much ass, actually, as it got cancelled for being "too ...

Re: Bell wants to shut down more CTV transmitters
I've updated the link to reflect the CURRENT list of transmitters bell wants to shut down... sorry. not sure how i wound up with that link to the 2016 article... CJOH-TV-6 Deseronto (serving everyone from Coburg to Kingston) and CKCO-TV-3 Oil Springs (Sarnia, Chatham, Windsor) are slated for closure...

Re: Bell wants to shut down more CTV transmitters
CKNX-TV actually used to have its own, very small, news division. However, the area served was so tiny in population (perhaps 250,000 at most in a H*** area from Wingham to Owen Sound to Collingwood... a truly massive area north of London and west of Barrie) that the station ended up having to close...

Bell wants to shut down more CTV transmitters
It's all in the topic header, people. Bell wants to shut down "unprofitable" repeaters that it claims don't bring in any income and serve lightly populated areas, and that they don't originate any of their own programming. The problem with that claim is they list CJOH-TV-6 Deseronto and CKCO-TV-3 Oi...

Re: 106.7 FAKE WHEELS is out of touch with its audience (shocking, I know)
Bruce Springsteen was an extremely overrated artist in his day, I might add. Dare I say the name of the even more obvious overrated artist from New Jersey? Hint 1: Hoboken. Hint 2: A One Man Cover Band. Not to say there weren't a few tracks along the way that were great. Jon Bon Jovi? wait, he's fr...

the call-letters are still legally WDTW-FM, but... I believe they'll be changed in the very near term. A sister station of theirs in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina currently has them.

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here
YES! HOLY SHIT YES! I *loved* Detroit's Wheels way back in the day! I always thought of Alice (and later 106.7 The D) as a spiritual successor to that... and now it's come full-circle... Once again i can get my hair metal on any time i need to! Welcome back to my radio presets, old friend! This is g...

Re: Bomb Cyclone Storm headed for us
this looks like a classic, if particularly strong Albuquerque Low... Coloradans know (and dread) these because of the strong winds they bring and all the snow they can dump on the region. This one looks to undergo explosive strengthening, similar to a hurricane ("bombogenesis") as well... the next c...
