Re: 101.9 on today
When I was in Manistee this past weekend, 92.3, 99.3, and 100.1 were all in fairly decently with RDS (something the Synergy Media stations don't have). I think at least one of those three has been on consistently for a few months if not longer. Speaking of Synergy, which obviously don't have RDS li...

Re: 101.9 on today
I heard 100.1 this morning in the null of my 20-mile local WVIB during the big tropo opening. First time ever heard! I mean, I wish it weren't on the air at all along with the other few Memories stations, but alas, it will surely turn off again like usual. Setting the bar low, of course. Anyone know...

Re: WOOD-FM transmitter fried by lightning strike
The warm, humid weather might be aiding the signal, too. I was hearing crazy things on the FM dial last Sunday during the late morning hours. For example, 97.5 WLAW from Whitehall was walking all over 97.5 Now FM in western Ionia County! Heard a number of stations from SE Wisconsin, Chicagoland, an...

Re: Cavell Mertz FM Coverage Maps
I can't speak too much on the engineering side of things and how they make all this, but I know a lot of work goes into it when such a firm does it for the FCC when requesting upgrades, changes, new stations, etc. and naturally it does not take tropo into account, and everyone knows that. But usuall...

Re: 104.7 WKJC off the air...instead I pick up WIOT (Toledo)
Actually, at full Class C2 facilities, 50 kW/150 meters HAAT, WKJC also has a very strong signal, which can often be heard in SE Michigan. Because of some Lake effects, WKJC 104.7, WLEW 102.1, WHNN 96.1, CKNX 101.7, and a few others, are often really strong like that, and perhaps WIOT 104.7 is also...

Re: 106.7 on the air?
I was in Frankfort Sunday. Only 92.3 and 99.3 were on. 100.1 seems to be missing. Is 101.9 still on these days? I didn't note that one either. But 101.9 was being walloped by IBOC from both my locals on 101.7 and 102.1 to the point it would have been pretty hard to hear. But no sign of it... I am h...

Re: 106.7 on the air?
I noticed the note from February saying that 106.7 had gone back off the air. Is this true to this day? During the absolutely massive tropo opening between Northern Michigan and South Bend (and all points between) on Sunday morning, I noticed the absence of 106.7. Even with IBOC on the frequency, ev...

Re: Best Translator Facilities In Michigan
FM Fool shows all of the Big Rapids area stations as 1Edge and 2Edge propagation to a generic Fremont address. None are LOS. A couple are in quite a deep terrain hole. How high is your outside antenna? It doesn't take much of a hill to substantially attenuate signals. The VFR Map shows some fairly ...

Re: Best Translator Facilities In Michigan
I concur on 94.7 TC and 100.7 Cadillac. I've had 100.7 in with RDS ("THESORCE" LOL) as far east as St. Helen on a car radio. They seem to get out as well as 107.1 WCKC and 107.9 WCDY do. I can hear 100.7 Cadillac a few times a year in Fremont but only on the car radio, never on the portable. But Ca...

Re: Best Translator Facilities In Michigan
Found an even better one in Wisconsin: 101.3 W267BB Wausau (WHRM-HD3) - 250 watts, HAAT 329 meters 101.3 in Wausau certainly gets out, but that's also because all of the Wausau stations from that site and others nearby get out well, partly due to elevation and partly to location. But here in West M...

87.9 Detroit Pirate
Does anybody have information about the location or power of 87.9 in Detroit? I did a bandscan at Belle Isle on Friday and ran into the station coming in as a local on seek. No IDs were heard, but I was dealing with the entire FM band and didn't have all evening to wait around for much, but a variet...

Re: 106.7 on the air?
I'll have to give it a test. I already post images exactly as described but have run into issues almost randomly. It'll work here but not there, or work on this browser today but not tomorrow, with nothing different, etc. Usually my site uses http:// but I recently gave it the option for https:// as...

Re: February Nielsen #'s - Grand Rapids
What I'm really curious about is: How many of you honestly believe that station "ratings" are accurate? And if you do, why do you believe that? I've always been skeptical of it from a statistical standpoint, though much the same with TV ratings and many other polls and I am really big fan of statist...

Meanwhile, this may be the last photograph of the Historic WJML Studio Building, taken in December. The front half was torn down recently. https://connect.xfinity.com/appsuite/api/image/mail/picture?folder=default0%2FINBOX&id=406171&uid=IMG_0866.jpg&scaleType=contain&width=512 It looks pretty bad n...

Re: Below 88 mHz
They do, but it went all digital in 2019 (I think) and now operate as a TV station. WLFM flash-cut to digital in July 2020 and moved to UHF 20 (but still uses virtual 6): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WLFM-LD By "digital," that means they are completely an online/DTV station now and not on the radi...
