Re: Fox 17 commercial break
I remember reading on their website that 17's switcher was on the friz. They ran a syndicated episode of Dateline NBC at 10pm and then started another at 11, interupting around 11:15 for a delayed newscast. Wonder if they only ran 30 minutes and then used 15 minutes of filler to get back on schedule ...

Brent Ashcroft leaving WZZM
Brent Ashcroft posted the following earlier today to his Facebook page: LIFE UPDATE 2022 will be the beginning of a new chapter for me. My contract is up at WZZM and I have chosen not to re-sign. My last day at the station will be Thursday, December 23. It would be impossible for me to thank ...

Sinclair's WWMT hit by ransomware
Happened to see a Facebook post that News 3 Sunday Morning did not air due to what they called "technical difficulties". Just read on a Facebook group that Sinclair's corporate network got hit with a ransomware attack over the weekend. No TelePrompts, video servers or graphics. Some stations worked ...

Re: Morning shows,
Totally agree. Been watching News 8 Daybreak as well, although for me it is because 17 pushed the start time back from 4:30 to 5:00. I usually am heading out the door around 5:00. Plus their 4pm newscast is not that great with the new format. I've found Judge Judy to be more entertaining viewing for ...

Re: On Screen Faces Departing FOX 17
Ryan Cummings just announced on FB that he is moving from the 10&11 newcasts to mornings. No word yet who is taking Deanna's place. My guess would be Savannah or Ruta.

Re: On Screen Faces Departing FOX 17
There are some new anchors/in-studio reporters I’m not recognizing (nor are they included in the FOX 17’s On-Air-Staff roster) during the newly formatted FOX 17 News at 4. News@4 anchor Doug Reardon posted a few behind the scenes shots of the new format to FB. As I suspected, it's done on a green sc ...

Re: On Screen Faces Departing FOX 17
Darren Cunningham and Sarah Grimmer both still work for Scripps. They are at WXYZ Detroit and WSYM Lansing, respectively.

Re: On Screen Faces Departing FOX 17
With Brody and Alyssa gone, it appears WXMI may have a shortage of news anchors. This week their morning news hasn't been starting until 5am. Yet their "here's what you missed" promos for the morning news still say "starting at 4:30am". In the 4:30am timeslot, the parent company Scripps produced ...

Re: Fox 17 Meteorologist Eric Kostrzewa Leaving Station
Well my prediction was nowhere near accurate. Erik posted on his FB page today that he will be on Weather Nation, which from what I can tell is a Denver based streaming service with programming in the style of what The Weather Channel used to be.

Re: Happy 70th birthday to Bill Steffen!
Did Bill work at a station in a different market before landing at WZZM back in 1975? My guess is he will retire when he hits 50 years in TV (either general or West Michigan).

Re: Fox 17 Meteorologist Eric Kostrzewa Leaving Station
Scripps owned WSYM Fox 47 would make sense as they just recently started an in house news division (previously outsourced to WILX NBC-10). It is where Fox17 weekend anchor Sarah Grimmer wound up. Presently, all five of WXMI's meteorologists are listed on Fox47News.com. My understanding is they ...

Re: Sarah Grimmer leaving Fox 17.
While she hasn't said publicly yet where she is going, some comments on her FB page point to Scripps owned WSYM Fox 47 in Lansing. Seems odd going to a smaller market but according to Wikipedia, WSYM moved production of its newscasts back in house earlier this year (after outsourcing to WILX NBC 10 ...

Was part of the Q Morning Zoo on WKLQ around 20 years ago, then part of the GRD morning show, later WOOD-FM with fellow former KLQ and GRD morning show personality Rick Beckett. Now on WFGR in the afternoons.inmyopinion wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 1:33 pm Dumb question, but for those of us who don't know, who is Scott Winters?
