Re: Kent Davis yawning
The problem isn’t that he yawned. It’s that the story was published that way. The video should have started with Kent’s PKG, not the anchor intro. It just showcases one bad decision after another.

Re: Another One Out the Door on Lapeer Rd
We’ll if you drive your stations into the ground, but still want to be profitable, I guess you can just now sue advertisers to get your way. Screw the old way of actually raising ratings! Re: Building collapse
Matt, in order to believe you… you’d have to believe either: 1) I currently work at both 25-66 and 12 to have insider information on both operations 2) I was fired at 25-66 and walked across town to 12… despite a likely non-compete Neither scenario makes any logical sense. It’s just more likely that...

Re: Building collapse
Where the hell did I ever say I wanted to form a Union? We had one in the news department. It went away after WJRT employees voted it out. How would a Union improve live shots or news judgment? It wouldn’t. We need better management. End of story.

Re: Building collapse
Ronnie did a live SOT at 6pm. Hardly an Emmy nominated effort for a story in its own backyard. Denise likes to tout “go big or go home”. This coverage had a lack of producing support and Ronnie was stuck reading off her script. Not an impressive effort for someone who came from the Detroit market. I...

Gray $18 per hour minimum wage
WNEM’s parent company says it will be raising the entry level wage for its employees to $18.00 per hour. That’s about $37,000 for many entry-level employees. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/gray-television-announces-adopt-18-dollar-hourly-minimum-wage.amp I was making less than $20,000 when I fi...

Re: Kelly & Ryan coming back to ABC 12??
I’m pretty sure the Carz article was written by Kelly Ripa herself. While we did get some upset viewers, it’s not like the place was ready to be burned down. And while management is positioning it as trying to help an overworked staff (and we are), the real reason to go back to Kelly and Ryan probab...

Re: TV5 Loses second reporter in a week.
They should pay JR by the newscast. That might encourage him to be a better team player if his financial well being is tied to him showing up to work.

Re: Abc12 breaking point
Rebecca is great. I don’t think she’s ready to be News Director, but it would go a long way to have someone in an EP/Assistant News Director role who has great relationships with the entire newsroom.

Re: Abc12 breaking point
It was sad seeing Pat leave. The move makes sense since he’s been driving from Bay City to Flint all these years. It also reunites Pat with Jayne, who promoted him from our producing ranks. How many more people have to leave before Brock has enough of Denise running this once proud station into the ...

Re: TV5 Loses second reporter in a week.
Yes, Zoom interviews are free and have basically replaced phone screens. But as I stated above there’s more to recruiting than the interview. There has to be a better solution to running stations on the cheap in order to get a better newscast. Not sure why that’s a revolutionary or controversial idea.

Re: TV5 Loses second reporter in a week.
Here’s a new concept… how about paying more to keep reporters, producers, photographers, etc. from leaving? It might not stop everyone from pursuing opportunities in bigger markets or jobs closer to home/family… but it would help. Right now all stations are having trouble filling openings. The quali...
