Spike and Hank
Spike and Hank
Has anyone given the podcast a listen? Some really interesting hints in the first episode. Hank had no comment when asked if he talks to Karen Drew still. Spike doesn’t speak to mojo. We are going to get alot of Detroit media dirt on this podcast.

Better than the Drew Lane podcasts. Those are getting stale.

Re: Spike and Hank
episode 1 both dudes explain why they are not on their old stations anymore. and hank talks about the raid on his home and what happened since. he also talks about his kelly stafford podcast. I did not listen to episode 2 yet. I went right to episode 3 because spike dishes a lot more dirt about mojo and his other co-workers. he said mojo never called him once since the day they announced his departure. he also said mojo brought the new dude kevin into the studio a few times to 'learn about radio' and job shadow while spike was still there. so it is obvious to me that mojo wanted to bring his friend in to be his cohost and had them get rid of spike. I think spike took the high road I would have gone much harder on that lame dude who dumped long time faithful co host. mojo is obviously two sided andegotistical. he came in my work once and seemed nice but also seemed like he could not wait to get out of there and was on his phone half the time. if you listen to the mojo show now, spike's replacement kevin is like mini-mojo talking about god and then 5 minutes later making pervy sex jokes and talking poorly about the mothers of their children. it's a lame bit. I often wonder if they know their audience is young female. and so are their laughing cohosts. none of which are memorable I do not even know their names except shannon because sh started the show with mojo and spike 20+ years ago. the first episodes of this podcast are very interesting I will be curious to see how they settle in and what they become. agree that Drew Lane is becoming stale. we get it, you are cranky and never leave your house.

I always thought Mojo was Giant Douchebag. Never could stand Mojo in the morning. How many years of “War of the Roses” can we take?RecoveringBoardOp wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 9:20 pm episode 1 both dudes explain why they are not on their old stations anymore. and hank talks about the raid on his home and what happened since. he also talks about his kelly stafford podcast. I'm not going to listen, but did he happen to mention Sara at all? I really liked her on 97.1.RecoveringBoardOp wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2026 9:20 pm episode 1 both dudes explain why they are not on their old stations anymore. and hank talks about the raid on his home and what happened since. he also talks about his kelly stafford podcast. Not a Mojo fan. Not a radio fan. Actually am radio in GR is better than Det now. Spike was vocal naming names telling the whole story. Winchester said “no comment” and that he “agreed to separate” those are settlement words.

Re: Spike and Hank
RecoveringBoardOp - Shannon joined Mojo at 95.5 close to eight years after Mojo and Spike arrived.
She replaced Sarah Fouracre, who much like Spike, suddenly disappeared from WKQI one day. Spike outlasted Sarah on the Mojo show by about 15 years. Spike and Sarah previously hosted mornings on 105.1 The Edge in the late 90s.
WKQI underwent a major reboot circa 2000. Steve Cochran was fired from mornings, Jojo Kincaid was fired from afternoons, Mark Mitchell was fired from evenings, and I don't even remember who did middays (Kevin O'Neill maybe?). Every single on-air jock in weekdays was replaced. New PD was hired from KRQ in Tucson. He brought Mojo with him. Mojo was paired with Spike and Sarah, who arrived maybe a week before Mojo.
Shannon was lousy on-air when she first arrived. I've never heard anyone who wasn't a professional auctioneer talk so damn fast while reading copy! In more recent years, she's been much better in that regard. Perhaps she finally received some coaching.
It's obvious Mojo wanted Spike gone. He's the star of the show, so I guess he has that right. Spike claims he got three years' severance in exchange for a non-compete. That's pretty damn good.
It's amazing to me that competing shows never called out Mojo's staged segments. Just goes to show that Amp Radio 98.7's failed morning shows, Blaine on WDVD, and Dave & Chuck resort to usage of fake material, too.

Mojo is great guy. Great humanitarian. Good husband and father. And if you work for him, he’s very generous. He has an excellent reputation as a hard worker and he built HIS show from scratch.
