Art Vuolo, Jr., is reporting on his Facebook page that Roger Hoppe, aka Colonel Flagg, has died of cancer.

RIP Flagg / Mr. Hoppe. His insider info from his career in broadcasting was a highlight of this board.

OMG - I visited Roger about 2 months ago along with Art at garden City hospital.
I never made the connection to his screen name here.

Roger was a great guy, RIP

Sad to hear this. He had an insider's knowledge of radio and had so many great stories. Cancer sucks so much. R.I.P. Colonel Flagg.

I'm very saddened by this news. He enjoyed chatting about rock radio and also 760 WJR and was knowledgeable in both spheres, remarkably. Not a frequent poster but certainly someone whose musings I generally enjoyed reading.

May he rest in peace and enjoy eternal life in heaven.

Oh, no. Good conversation with the Colonel over the years. Filled in a lot of blanks for a lot of us around here. Should any of the Hoppe family sees this, I'm sorry for your loss. We loved having him around.

Very sorry to hear. I enjoyed his stories of working at WIOT in its glory days. RIP to the Colonel.
