Why Do So Many Dislike Jay Towers?

Don't know anything about the guy, but why exactly do some people hate him?

As a teenager, I didn’t like his media personality. I remember him being kind of “pompous” on DRQ, and not only that, I remember him being everywhere. But that was 25-30 years ago, I am changed and I am sure he is different as well, so I no longer really have a negative opinion of him. He’s just doing his gig, making a living, and fairly successfully.

He reminds me a bit too much of Ryan Seacrest, whom I also cannot stand. Then again, I'm not in his target demo so I can't really speak to how well he does what he does. He's just not my cup of tea. Instead of complaining, I just don't listen.
Now as for his duties as music director...I think they leave much to be desired. Bizarre recurrent/gold choices; Towers seems to love putting on D-list flops ("Akon's Beautiful Day," "Moonlit Floor") as recurrents. Not to mention, "S&M" side by side with "Imagine" is a trainwreck, not variety to me.

Never met him but he’s always come off as a major douchebag. Stories I’ve heard from those who have met him feel the same.

He's a middlebrow, multipurpose kind of media personality. Can adapt in a superficial way to almost any situation. He's made a place for himself in this market.

It’s because he’s pompous and dull. He’s so middle of the road and non offensive that if becomes offensive. Hes as bland as dry white toast.

I was an intern at 93.1 in the Middle 2000’s so peak Jay Towers. He wasn’t the meanest to interns but wasnt the nicest either. He had his days. I think he was and still is very talented though

I will say this for Jay, he is a thorough professional, who shows up everyday, puts in the work and is pleasant to work with. As a colleague and coworker, I don't ask for anything more.
