I know it would never happen, but it would be a great idea that if and when CKWW 580 changes format to something other than Oldies that Crawford would do something different and make 560 an Oldies station once again. Just think, it could actually be something that Crawford could consider. Crawford does have a few Oldies stations in other markets. Just a thought, but if someone wants to fill that Oldies void in Detroit, Crawford would be a great choice and 560 would be a perfect spot on the dial. Again, just a thought.

As I've stated before I like the idea of music prior to the mid 1970's played on AM radio, as that's the format the recordings were intended to be heard on.

Oldies were on AM 560. It was called Honey Radio. Richard Dee, Teddy Bear from cklw fame, and Kevin O’Neil were Djs. Kevin Oniel did mornings, they signed on at 6am with the national anthem. He had a daily feature ‘word of the day’ and ‘honor group of the day’.

They shared news team and reporters with either WMJC or another FM adult contemporary station. Greg Bowman did double duty for news on both AM and FM.

Great stuff. I think they eventually went to foreign broadcast in early 90s.

Went mostly Spanish in the early/mid 90s. Some English brokered remained including... Ron Cameron.

Calls were changed to WLLZ not long after 98.7 dropped them.

Who would advertise to the dozens of octogenarians listening?

I mentioned the oldies idea, and 560's legacy to Cris Alexander when I was in Denver years ago. His response was, "That's nice, but I think we'll continue serving the Lord with that facility" Strangely enough, it wasn't long after, and whaddya know, Crawford flipped the 1260 (WYDE) in Birmingham, AL to Classic Hits. Never trust a broadcast engineer who shows up at the transmitter site wearing a suit.
