Getting older doesn't do it. It's still eating like you're a teenager but not having the same activity level.

This is no surprise and doesn't actually cause weight gain. Lipid turnover is related to overall activity, and exercising can increase it. As you age, your normal overall activity DECREASES, unless you do something (like exercise more) to keep it constant.

Even in the article they qualify the study with "even if we don't eat more or exercise less than before". With a drop in overall activity (metabolism), you should be eating LESS if you want to stay around the same weight. Most don't do this and continue eating at the same rate. Doesn't just happen to old folks, but you see the same thing as folks transition into their 30's, 40's and 50's.
