I remember listening to the Sunday Sports Albom back in the day thinking whoever this other guy is, he's so much better than the little scab, Mitch.
I listened to Sunday Sports Albom religiously back in the day, and always thought the best weeks were when Mitch was on assignment for the Free Press. Mitch would typically call in for a segment or two, but the show was otherwise Stoney flying solo.
Once Stoney left the show to go to DFN, Sunday Sports Albom was never quite the same with Fred Huemann as cohost.

Stoney was one of the few tolerable personalities on 97.1. He was at his peak on WDFN.

I enjoyed younger Stoney much better. Not a big fan of old man Stoney but I would take him all day over "smartest guy in the room" Costa. Can't stand Costa. Friday will be my last day listening to the morning show.
I couldn't agree more.

I enjoyed listening to him, as a listener from the DFN days, never took himself serious. While it was a different show then the heyday with wojo for a morning show I thought it was good

It is definitely the end of an era, though it doesn’t feel like we’ve heard anywhere NEAR the last of Stoney.
I still remember working in a restaurant where Rona Danziger passed me a business card letting me know she was involved with an upstart station here in Detroit that was gonna be all sports talk (WDFN). Years later, I was working in a different restaurant (same small city), and Stoney and his wife and another couple were in for a Saturday night dinner. To my surprise, Stoney didn’t order his signature Bloody Mary!

I always did enjoy the fact Stoney didn’t take himself too seriously, and he also was like so many of us that navigated those wild-n-wooly party-hearty times in the late 70s-early to mid 80s

Clearly they are having Heather participate much more now on the new show. I'm not a fan but I will keep an open mind.

Not a fan of Heather as well, certainly did not even notice she was gone and her stupid news updates while she was on leave the last 3-4 months. Her delivery is awful and non sensitive when she delivers tragic news. My mind is closed on her

Glad he is leaving. Tired of hearing about his daughter, his wife, his big house and money in West Bloomfield.

She shouldn't even be there. She brings nothing to the table.
I predict some ratings erosion for 97.1 in the weeks and months ahead.
This. Sara was great, I never got the reason for the switch. Other than her being "hotter", but it's radio. She's got an annoying voice and just reads the news off a script.

I quit listening the day Bill and Sara were let go. I have nothing against Heather--I just didn't see the point in replacing people that were actually entertaining. I liked Jamie also, but just couldn't listen because I was so pissed.

I stopped listening to sports talk radio years ago when they became lazy and it devolved into random guy talk. If Detroit’s sports team was not competitive or in the playoffs, hosts seem to get lazy and the quality of talk and topics degraded severely.
I remember Stoney had a man-crush on Bruuuuuuuuuuuce springsteen.

Not sure if it was true or just a rumor but the story was that Stoney had it in his contract that if Springsteen was playing within X number of miles away he was allotted that time off to go see him.
Stoney is "OK". There are certainly worse on the station but his best days are behind him for sure.
