The original thread dated back to 2013, as I recall, & ran 80 pages before it was accidentally deleted. So it otherwise would be up to 360 pages but for that. Ron Cameron, aka Scoop, aka R Sizzle, is, as he often says, the longest continuing sports talk show, dating back to the ‘70s, when, for a time at least, he, known as the “Superfan,” had his own show on WXYZ. He later had a long-running cable show (Sports View, with many episodes surviving on YouTube) in the ‘80s, primarily with Bob Page, which, in cable’s infancy, won an ACE award for best local sports show (or something to that effect). But what commands the interest of so many of us here is, ahem, his unique personality. And he truly is so very bad at what he does. The Ed Wood characterization upthread is perfect.

He is a 72 year old man who is trying to fool himself and others into believing that he is a relevant media personality.Sports has been an escape from his miserable life. He is very insecure and jealous of those who have had sucessful careers such as Bob Page ,Dan Dickerson and Frank Beckman.He is terrible at his job.The only reason he is on the air is that he hustles to.obtain sponsors which allow him to buy air time.No radio station.would ever hire him.lf not for the buzzboard and especially Momo nobody would even know he exists.

You flatter me, Kidcat, but Ron had been quite a presence on this Board long before me. I'm just carrying on a long tradition of putting a spotlight on narcissists, blowhards, etc. Just one correction. Although the sunny-dispositioned Ron might seem younger, he is, in fact, 76, with his 77th birthday in January. We need to cherish him while he's still around ... and allow ESPN the opportunity to interview him for its inevitable 30 for 30 on his illustrious life.

For those that may try Sportstalk tomorrow, The Guest is Terry Foster. Believe it or not, some way some how he reaches out and has on some good guests on such as Jim Leyland and last week Kevin Alan. I am somewhat amazed how he connects with some of these folks

Will Ron be aware that daylight saving time has ended, or will he show up today an hour early? I'm imaging an agitated Ron trying in vain to get on air at 5:00 pm ... & really struggling to make it to 9 pm. At least he should have his glasses tonight.

Ron said that a Terry Foster growing up listening to Ron on the radio got him interested in a life in sports journalism. There's a decent chance that Ron will remind Terry of that.

They said nothing last week, so will Ron or Cowboy ever get around to acknowledging Mike Lucci's passing?
