That’s it. I am done with WDIV news.
So where will you tune in now for news?
Where reputable news sources and unbiased coverage of world news is covered by honest, truthful, no political agenda personalities....

Tik Tok.....
Good question. I am not sure. Have looked at a couple of options. CBS stinks in my opinion and am not a fan of their format. Fox2 at 10pm seems a good option. I kind of liked a 10 o’clock news when I was in Wisconsin. Have not watched too much of WXYZ 7 to form an opinion.

If memory serves me correctly, I think they had live look-ins on Detroit and New York. Rounded out with pre-recorded portions from Toronto and Honolulu. Maybe another city as well.
Yeah, I know CBS used to use Detroit as one of the multiple cities they would go to when they used to do that. Now they just do the B-broadcast of NYC (Macy's without any of the performances.)

I've always wondered exactly which affiliates are broadcasting WDIV's coverage. WDIV claims 100+ affiliates. Well, they nationally broadcast the first hour, nothing after that, which means they miss out on the best parts IMO.

CBS stopped airing the Macy's Thanksgiving parade without Macy's naming since NBC is the one that has the rights for it nationally for many decades since 1953. This started this year as they aired a repeat of The Price Is Right before the NFL Today at 12PM before Lions VS Bears.

WNEM aired WDIV's coverage of "America's" parade from 9:00am-12:00pm, complete with an awkwardly placed 5 chyron partially over WDIV's.

WOOD Grand Rapids, WJXT Jacksonville FL, WGTQ Traverse City, WNLS Lansing, and WBKB Alpena also aired the 3-hour broadcast live.

I'm not sure how accurate that list was as WTTA/WSNN in Tampa didn't carry the parade live on any of their channels as it was listed.

Did all of the other stations air it as listed? I would assume the Michigan stations did, but I wonder about in other states because our local sure didn't!

The last time I watched the parade on an outstate Michigan television station, the "Local 4" logo bug was conspicuously present.

That tells me WDIV doesn't take telecast syndication seriously.

You're probably correct that there are multiple errors on that station list. The "TBD" air time dates are a dead giveaway.

Devin seems like a good guy, but honestly, did coverage of Mort Crim's pending retirement drag on this long?

The send off on tonight's 6PM newscast was very good. Mike Tirico voiced a tribute he wrote regarding Devin.

My only complaint is how the station tersely segued to commercials immediately once Devin finished saying, "It's my last time saying this - Lester Holt and NBC Nightly News is next."

I was expecting a montage of some kind set to music at that point, but nope, Loco 4 did a hard cutaway to commercials. Lame. That occurred at 6:26 PM.

I bet that has something to do with hard breaks and automated systems. Maybe it’s the kinda thing they could design into it if they signed off at 624 and ran it?

The difference between Mort and Devin is that Devin was liked by everybody on scene and behind the scenes. Mort could be aloof. Devin is the guy you could have a drink with and he'd treat you like he would a president. Mort, not so much.

I met Devin once… I can vouch for this… very nice guy.
