The signal is MUCH weaker into NW Ohio than back in the day. I'd noticed right before I removed 88.7 from my car presets after the format flip that they'd powered down and today trying to listen I could get it pretty good near my work on Central Ave/US 20 here but not far south at all it was completely unlistenable. It used to be perfectly clear about 40 miles further south and east than other Detroit FMs.

I did notice one other reference to Detroit when I was listening, they encouraged people to use the Talkback Mic on the iheart app to vent about the Lions.

Interesting, I did not catch that - they do use blur during that opening segment. I have heard a couple of glitches (at least twice the audio dropped for about a second or two, and once I heard what I can only describe as what sounds like a CD skipping (although I am smart enough to know they're not using CDs)

Same song around 3. Then I heard about 20 minutes of acoustic emo
Puke from Vance Joy to a country kid all in row to dozens of horrendous Canada songs that sounded very badly. I heard multiple bands 4-5 times already.

Different strokes. Saw someone above give it a B+ but I’m not there yet or ever. It’s was to scrambled for me

was just going to say this - WTPG has gone HD since 89x was....well, 89x last time.

Yikes. That makes things even worse. That HD sideband slop definitely intrudes on 88.7 big time.

I'm surprised 89X can be heard anywhere in the Toledo area given that fact.

I had to hook up a set of rabbit ears to my Denon AV receiver to get a good signal on that device. The wire antenna that came with the unit wasn't getting the job done.

(Yamaha AVRs seem to have better quality FM tuners than Denon units.)

Here's the thing about Talkback on the iHeartRadio app. US listeners can't do that, as far as I can tell. They're on iHeart Canada. You can listen on a web stream, but as soon as you try to open the iHeart app in the US, it won't load 89X. I tried it. I think that's going to be consistent because of the national barrier. So they really are soliciting just from Windsor.

Just heard "Heavy is the Crown", the new Linkin Park with their new (female) singer.

The fact any streaming app featuring 89X works in the U.S. (without a VPN) is a win.

Rogers and Corus geoblock all of their stations. Cannot listen to London's FM96 or Toronto's Q107 here.

The Blackburn Media stations are all available for streaming here.

Its been three years since i listen to the radio on the ride home and today broke that with 89X. Music finally playing on the radio instead of topdawglaw, some college hype enrollment or maskup get the vaccine type bs.

Just looked at their playlist and found one song that they played a bit ago that seems out of sorts with their format - Stephenwolf’s Born to be wild. That’s alternative???

Born to be Wild gets identified by iHeartRadio's algorithm when they replay their long promo announcing the format change. There's a sample of it in there. They're not actually playing the song.

They’re right. That didn’t play except on the launch. However I saw a lot of songs never make it to the iheart playlist that they did play. By my count there was over a dozen.

I'll be paying attention to this thread. How long does it last... I mean will the Playlist soon turn to crap?

I thought the general consensus was to hit with the biggest hits at flip to let people know what they can expect? They've gone pretty deep today.
