If Greene is gonna keep swinging at those pitches at his feet, there's no reason to even throw him a strike. :rolleyes

(Edit)
I can't believe I was waiting the whole day to watch this. :?

I was gonna say, at least we aren't the Yankees facing elimination. As Scarlett O'Hara said in Gone With the Wind, tomorrow is another day.

(Edit)
Oops, Yanks just tied it 6-6 in the fourth on a three-run dinger by Da Judge.

(Edit)
Yanks have taken a 9-6 lead! It's good to see a team display some home game come-from-behind grit, piss & vinegar...even if it is the Yank-mes.

Fuck the Yankees, but hopefully the Cubs pull it off tomorrow.

I hope the Tigers win tomorrow due or die for them and tried of seeing all these runners on 2ND & 3RD and not scoring UGH, fire the batting coach this offseason.

No one should be surprised by the outcome of last night's Tigers game.

I'm not surprised at the outcome since the Mariners are clearly the better team, but a fan should at least have an expectation of clean and professional execution of basic fundamentals. Last night the Tigers looked for all the world as if they had checked out. What an awful performance in all facets of the game to put forth before the home crowd and the nation!

I certainly hope Hinch tore this team a new one after this game 'cause there ain't gonna be a tomorrow playing as they did last night. >:

Are you suggesting they'll win if they simply turn in their library books?

The team is dead. Unless Mize throws a complete game shutout, it’s over.

I'm assuming you're talkin' hyperbole. If Mize can give us five or six good innings and leave the back end to Finnegan, Holton, and Vest; we have a chance. BUT WE'VE GOTTA HIT! We also have to play clean errorless baseball. If we steal Game 4 and Skubal is Skubal in Game 5, I like the odds. Sure, the Mariners have not lost to Skubal this season, but his last outing was very Skubal-like; he surrendered only two solo dingers and struck out eight. BUT WE'VE GOTTA HIT!

People keep hoping for consistent quality pitching from Flaherty (myself included), but he's really just an average pitcher. In nine seasons, he's only had two half-way decent full seasons (2019 and 2024).

Maybe that's why Hinch saved his two best starting pitchers for the last two games of the series.

Huh? What advantage does winning Game 4 as opposed to Game 3 give us?

Bryce Miller starting for Seattle today. If the Tigers dont light this bum up, they dont deserve to advance.

That's a good question. Here's one explanation:
Mize starting Game 4 is a departure from the norm in that he had previously been in front of Flaherty in the rotation, but a key to the “pitching chaos” concept the Tigers are known for is flexibility on multiple fronts, so the decision made sense.

Mize will have an extra day of rest between starts because of the flip, something he combatted by pushing his normal bullpen day back and keeping the back end of his routine the same.

...

While Flaherty matches up a bit better against Mariners batters, when manager A.J. Hinch was asked why he chose to lead with Flaherty versus Mize, he hinted there were small reasons to follow this particular plan, but also said it could have gone either way.

“Every series is a little different. We did flip them last time, and we’re doing it again,” Hinch said. “Both are working off relatively controllable pitch counts. … Obviously, Jack on regular routine [and] regular rest is really attractive. When he catches his rhythm and timing, the things we’ve seen over the last couple of starts, that’s a really good version of him.”
