He passed on July 30...apparently only one day after his final post here.
Rest in power, sir. Condolences to his friends and family.

Damn. He was someone who knew his shit, and gave a damn about the profession. Not rare, but you don't see many people that way nowadays.ChrisWL1980 wrote:He passed on July 30...apparently only one day after his final post here.

He was on-air at WSNX (in the Sunny FM days), WKPK, WKFR, WUPS, WFGR, WHMI, some stations in NE Iowa, and probably other ones I'm forgetting!
Always enjoyed reading his posts here.
His final post is likely on this thread:

Great memories of 93.7 WJFM during its short Top 40 run. Grand Rapids for a brief time had 3 different stations doing Top 40 in the mid 80s! 93.7, 94.5 and 97.9. Once KLQ hit its stride, 93.7 tried (unsuccessfully) to go after W-Lite.

He was also on Gaylord's The Peak 106.7 in the late 90's/00's

Re: Very sad news...Craig Russell has passed
Just before I moved to the Kalamazoo area in 2016, he was doing mornings on K105.3 (WKHM-FM) in Jackson. At that time, it was "Craig Russell and the Morning Hustle."
Re: Very sad news...Craig Russell has passed
That is sad news. Surprisingly, to myself at least, I never met him. We surely must have crossed paths.
Craig certainly was a supporter of local radio that we all cherish that seems to be disappearing at a fast clip now.

I’m only now reading this. One of my old co hosts was a former roommate of his. Small world. RIP, Craig.
