The Samsung Tizen OS version of the MLB app doesn't give me the option of joining an in progress broadcast live. Instead, it launches the broadcast from the very beginning of the telecast, and then I have to manually fast forward to the current point in the telecast.

I do have the option of the Detroit Tigers feed or the Rogers Sportsnet feed. For audio, I can choose between the TV commentators and 97.1 The Ticket's commentators.

I had issues with the Samsung Tizen software and the MLB app. Every time I would launch it, it would just display a blank screen. Did this over the course of 3 or 4 days. I eventually had to switch to a FIre Stick that I had, and it worked perfectly fine with that. I've found the Samsung software to not play nice with certain apps, and overall be slow both in performance and adopting new features.

I'll have to give it a try with my Roku streaming stick sometime.

Picture quality and sound quality is better during the commercial breaks than the actual game broadcast.

Sorry, should have added I use a Roku Streaming Stick 4K or Fire TV 4K Max, both worked fine today.

This is certainly interesting! Looks like the Ilitch Organization is launching an RSN after all, with MLB handling most of the operational aspects.

Detroit SportsNet is the brand name. The Pistons are not part of the programming at this time.

For those without cable or satellite, Detroit SportsNet will not have its own streaming app. Instead, Tigers broadcasts will need to be streamed via the MLB app. Wings streaming remains TBD.

At $20 a month, I'm not interested.

This is a crap deal. I get with the Red Wings being in the mix it makes things a bit different than other teams. But for the same price of $199 annual, all the other MLB teams being handled by MLB offer a package to subscribe not only to the local broadcasts but to MLB.TV as well. FanDuel charges the same amount currently monthly/annually, and at least included the Pistons in that.

I hate hockey so I was looking forward to maybe doing the Tigers.TV/MLB.TV deal. But to do that now will be way more expensive than what the other teams offer.

Like in recent years, the Tigers also are planning to offer a small selection of games on over-the-air (free) television during the 2026 season, with details on those games expected in the coming weeks. The Tigers also have at least 16 games on national television/streaming this season.

Oh, and not that I get hung on stuff like this, but I like how they went back to 1997 with the name of the new network. Back then, if you added "net" behind the name of a company, channel, or internet service provider name, that meant it was some pretty cutting edge sounding shit.

Its pricey for the year, but it seems to be on a streaming App, unless thats the MLB.com app. The fine print wasnt real specific. My wonder is what happens to the Pistons? Maybe they join the Illich's? Go out on their own? Team up with Dazn or Barstool or someone like that. Hard to believe in this day and age they wouldnt have some sort of local option.

Great news! Fairly priced. The loss of local cable subscribers should be replaced with the many ex-Deteoiters scattered all over the US and to an extent Canada.

Am I the only one though that wishes they had bought the rights to 'PASS'? That would have been better, but again they would not get the cable companies or YouTube too carry them.

It is indeed the MLB app.

The streaming app on which Red Wings games can be accessed next season has not yet been announced. It would not surprise me if Detroit SportsNet has a self-branded app by then.

Personally, I'd like to see the Pistons team up with Detroit SportsNet because that would make for a much better value in the fall and winter months. One subscription would mean access to both the Wings and Pistons.

Count me as one of the folks who would've loved to have seen a resurrection of the PASS brand for old time's sake.

Not really. The reason it costs more is because the Wings are included. Now that FanDuel is gone, going forward MLB teams won't be on the same sports net as the NHL and/or NBA teams. Tigers and Wings are the exception, because of the joint ownership. If any of them were on the same net, it would be the same additional $150 for MLB.tv, or more because some of the local nets are getting up to $30 a month for MLB teams.


We were just lucky that all three of the pro league options were available all together from one source.

Yes. As expected at least some Tiger games will be available on local over-the-air stations.

And the Tigers will most definitely be on more national TV games once Apple TV announces their games, which are not included in the 16 game estimate.
