Apparently it aired OTA on CTV in Canada, if you are within range of a transmitter. Canada drastically cut down OTA coverage over the past decade and a half.

NBC is well known for showing events on delay if there's a large time zone difference. CBC has always been live.

Regarding CBC live coverage timing versus NBC, this YouTuber that lives in upstate New York who geeks out on TV reception (in a good way) found that the CBC was 9 seconds ahead of NBC's live broadcast--at least for speed skating:

As he mentioned, there aren't that many live events that are simultaneously on both the CBC and NBC, as they can chose to show different sports, of course.

I'm a subscriber to his YouTube, and am wondering if he'll comment on the Super Bowl. Then again, is the Super Bowl even OTA (over the air) in Canada? Since I'm in West Michigan, I don't know first hand.

I swear, two out of every three times I tune to the Olympics they're in a commercial break. And Peacock/NBC Sports' so-called "Gold Zone" with four to six competitions on the screen at once just ain't my cuppa chai.

I still can't get into the "hot dog" skiing and snowboarding events. I do enjoy snowboard cross, however!

And Men's curling team not playing for a medal because the cheaters (ie, the Canadians) couldn't win their last Round Robin game.

Part of me wonders if the Canadians lost that one on purpose to keep the US out, if for no reason other than to not have added attention from the United States on their cheating.

And Canadians didn't cheat. They have been under scrutiny for the foul language not because of the tap to the stone, which had no impact on their match with Sweden. There is plenty of fiction in the low rent news outlets but most people have no idea how the game is played.

No, they won a draw shot challenge and ended in 5th place. They never had a chance for the Semi's.

I thought that if Canada had beaten Norway in the final Round Robin game (early this morning), then there would have been a 3-way tie for 4th place between US, Italy, and Norway, with the US prevailing with the DSC tiebreaker. Instead, Norway won that game to move to 5-4 (instead of fall to 4-5) thereby eliminating both Italy and the US.

Except Norway won several key games that put them at the top of the 3 way tie.

Generally, when a team has qualified for the playoffs, they stop trying to win, because it doesn't matter. Canada (as the US has done in almost every tournament they have won) is resting and has no reason to play hard. The US would have been competing for bronze, while Switzerland and Canada are competing for Silver and Gold.

I'm certainly no expert in this so I'm not 100 percent confident in my claim here, but this is what I read late last night on the official NBC Olympics web page:

If both Italy and Norway were to lose on Thursday, that is when the U.S. sneaks in for a chance. The U.S. finished round-robin play on Wednesday with a loss and is 4-5 and sitting alone in 6th place. But, the Americans would clinch the No. 4 seed with losses by Italy, Norway, and China.

If Italy and Norway both lose, but Germany (3-5) defeats China (2-6), the next tiebreak would be the Draw Shot Challenge.

Italy lost. Germany beat China. And the US won the Draw Shot Challenge, albeit by a tiny margin. That leaves Norway, so had they lost (to Canada), the US would have been the 4-seed and played the 1-seed (I think Switzerland) in the semi-final, winner of that game then playing for gold.

I mean - this is all moot now, but I think the US got closer than you realize to being able to play for a medal.
