As much as Freddie Freeman deserves props for the game winning dinger, Will Klein was the hero of that game. When you get to 18 innings SOMEONE is going to connect, could have been Freeman, could have been Springer if he hadn't got hurt, at that level of play it's just a bolt of lighting who it was going to be but Klein threw the pill like he was possessed. Amazing performance. Double the innings and double the pitch count of his career. Scoreless with one hit and two walks.

The cherry on the cake was a visit from Sandy Kofax in the clubhouse offering a handshake and a simple "Nice going". Hell yes.

I couldn't agree more about Klein!
They showed a shot of Koufax in the stands, always recognizable. Oddly, the announcers didn't acknowledge the shot, but Koufax has that visage that's unmistakable to long-time fans of the game.

Little has been absolute garbage in the playoffs. That’s why they rolled with Lauer (a swingman, so he was stretched out) two innings after he was ready, even as he was struggling. I had a feeling he would be the one to give up the winning run.

Had it gone another inning, they may have well gone to Shane Bieber. He wasn’t throwing yet, but grabbed a glove.

Imagine if there was no DH. Both benches emptied (Dodgers still had three guys available), and Yamamoto and Bieber out there for sure.

I sure did! When the Jays hitters are "on", the hits come in bunches.
Note how in that seventh inning the hitters all "went with the pitch". Contrast that with the hapless flailing of the most recent Tigers hitters.

When the DH was first implemented in 1973, nine or ten man pitching staffs were the norm.
Of course, there were usually four-man starting rotations, no analytics or hard pitch counts, and complete games were a relevant statistic. A healthy starting pitcher was expected to pitch at least 200 innings in a season!

Is it just me or is there an unusual amount of home runs in this series? So far in Game 5 all three runs are solo shots. 2-1 Jays in the fourth.

Make that 3-1 Jays. The Dodgers' rightfielder Teoscar Hernández played a base hit by Varsho into a triple with nobody out -- bad play! He scored on a sacrifice fly to center.

The Jays' young starter Trey Yesavage has ten strikeouts through five!

The Dodgers played an absolutely godawful game last night all around. Once again, that seventh inning showed what can be accomplished with the Jays' brilliant approach at the plate, on the bases, and combined with the Dodgers' ineptness. All those wild pitches by the Dodgers...gawd! .
I'd love to see the series wrapped up in Toronto with a Jays victory.

A couple of them weren't even close to being on target... like 5 feet outside or 5 feet short of the plate! Wild!
