89X returns?

I've got five of those six on my presets, but I've got two banks of presets programmed.

#1 is WRIF, #2 is 89X, #3 is WLLZ, and I forget the order after that.

I do know I deleted 105.1 recently; their playlist is so stale. Their songs don't withstand the test of time as well as great rock & alternative songs.

I cannot stomach WDVD anymore. That station sounded decent when Rob Bridges was PD. I've not liked the station's sound since his departure, regardless of PD. I'm more likely to listen to both WNIC and WKQI over them. WDVD's imaging sounds so incredibly bland. I wish they never dumped the jingle package. They do have damn good audio processing, though.

I am OCD about having my stations in order. I may replace 96.3 with 95.5 soon. I just had all of these as my stations that way for quite awhile. When the River went, I just put WDVD instead. It’s kind of a legacy thing I guess you could say. I had 96.3 on my presets since I could drive for most of the last 25 years.

I kinda like Billy Talent. I always assumed that they were fulfilling Cancon regulations because I never heard of them outside of 89X. (Are they even Canadian??) And now I’ve started thinking of them as a weird Cancon band. The name always amused me.

The OnlineRadioBox.com site that you had shared earlier, MW, is really useful. Long playlist records, and the ability to stream a station directly through the site. I wish there were something like this for US radio. I miss the radio playlist aggregators that used to exist.

No complaints. It’s more like a 90s 89X crossed with some of the River favorites. I am someone that does mind the CanCon stuff. Bring on Crash Parallel, Our Lady Peace, Tragically Hip, Alanis etc.

Crash Parallel would be awesome to hear.

I dug out my old minidisc collection - I have a disc labeled 89x. Woulda been recorded in 1999 or 2000.

Not many songs on it, but here they are:

Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Kottonmouth Kings - Bump
(band unknown) - Rose Garden (sounded like a ska band re-did this one, can't find anything on Google)
House of Pain - Jump
Eminem - My Name is
Limp Bizkit - Nookie
Limp Bizkit - Faith
Kid Rock - Bawitdaba

The new 89x sounds a LOT like the river was from about 2011 on to it's end mixed with the "sissy bands" MW used to complain that 89x played, lol

I imagine Default will probably be a common band to be played on this station or Sam Roberts, I HOPE TO GOD they don't become a frequent nickelback station like 96.3 was to Lifehouse.

Pretty sure I heard "Brother Down" by Sam Roberts yesterday. Personally, Colonel Flagg enjoys the Can-Con songs. 89X played "Bobcaygeon" by the Hip last night.

Rose Garden (I Beg Your Pardon) was covered by Kon-Kan in 1988 I believe. I'm not sure we need to hear that again
