I am interested to see how / if crappy Alt 98.7 responds.

89X doesn't have that annoying douche Brad Steiner on its airwaves, so that's already a win for 89X.

I wanna hear Handlebars by Flobots, dammit!

They're playing RHCP now. Guess they can't be perfect.

My top guess (not top choice):

Newsradio 98.7 and 950 WWJ

Idk. I think there might be just enough market share for the "oldies". None of this Lumineers shit between the classics.

89x doesn't care about Detroit numbers, anyway.

When do we hear a DJ. Any DJ. Do you think we're talking days or weeks or do they actually have that somewhat ready to go?

That's bound to be the first minor letdown so if they're smart they actually go quite a while today without it. Gnyp isn't going to be cracking the mic.

Ok. The first real curveball.

"Oh, The Boss Is Coming!" by Arkells

A song I've never heard before. More recent song... right?

Definitely would NOT have picked The Arkells as the first Canadian artist to be played on 89X, but alright.

I looked it up and it's 2008.

So, not exactly from their golden era. I don't remember them playing this at all.

Ohhhhhh it's Cancon. Hahaha. Our first Cancon. Can I suggest "Superman" by Our Lady Peace for that?

I just had an amusing thought. So, let's say at Alt 98.7 they're writing down these songs from the first hour, and then later today they just play these songs in this order.

People listening like, "wow, this is sounding great!" :rollin

First mediocre song is from Twenty One Pilots. Big hit though for alternative radio, so I cannot blame the station for playing it.

"Stressed Out" by Twenty One Pilots came on and I started laughing, thinking of this. Close enough.

I would never have dubbed it Windsors Alternative......were in a big metro area keep the Windsor only for legal Id. Make it viable for both sides of the river.

The ONLY Alternative 89X........more fitting imo.

Goes to show Bell hasnt learned yet.
