UAW Strike
Re: UAW Strike
So, President Biden inserted himself into the dispute by voicing his support for the Union. As much as I agree with his sentiments, I'm not sure it was a good idea. It opens the door for a future President to take sides with the employer during a labour dispute.
Neutrality may have been a better choice.

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
Re: UAW Strike
The Union has given the big 3 until Friday to make progress at the bargaining table or more workers will walk…
Re: UAW Strike
Did you miss the 1980’s Air Traffic controller strike and Reagan?Turkeytop wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 12:29 amSo, President Biden inserted himself into the dispute by voicing his support for the Union. Re: UAW Strike
Different animal. Air Traffic controllers were Federal employees.
Even PBS recognized that Russia took notice that Reagan was very tough by firing them, and they it essentially bankrupted the USSR trying to fight off the Star Wars initiative. Mikail Gorbachev peacefully had to allow its transition.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!
Re: UAW Strike
You're right I had forgotten about that. Thanks for reminding me. Reagan not only inserted himself into the dispute. He interfered with itRate This wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 1:09 amDid you miss the 1980’s Air Traffic controller strike and Reagan?Turkeytop wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 12:29 amSo, President Biden inserted himself into the dispute by voicing his support for the Union. Didn’t he fire them all or something? I wasn’t around for that one… I have heard it was rather infamous however.Turkeytop wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:54 amYou're right I had forgotten about that. Re: UAW Strike
Yes. Evidently they were not allowed to strike so he fired them all.
Re: UAW Strike
What? 3 more plants that produce something that's not high demand.
I said it earlier. Stroll away from the plants making pickup trucks. Let's see how fast the Big 3 wanna settle this thing.
Re: UAW Strike
I'd announce that the union is right, the three plants are not needed and will be permanently shuttered.
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

Re: UAW Strike
Fun fact:
GM made $22 billion last year. If they gave all UAW members a $50,000 raise, they would still make $18 billion. Stop letting these companies brainwash you. It’s time for a middle class restoration.

They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Where do you get those numbers??MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 6:27 pmFun fact:

From this DetNews article, it says "10 Billion"
https://www.detroitnews.com/story/busin ... 856635007/
In this article, it says 9.9 billion:
https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/31/general ... -2022.html
And in the DetNews article, it also had this:
"GM's comparatively strong financial performance enabled the Detroit automaker to deliver profit-sharing bonuses of $12,750 to approximately 42,300 hourly employees — GM's highest such profit-sharing payout. The bonuses total $500 million for the year, the company said, or $1.2 billion over the past three years."
Re: UAW Strike
Wrong. They're working class and proud of it.

Re: UAW Strike
Working class isn't a thing except for weirdos. UAW members are definitively middle class: https://www.fool.com/the-ascent/persona ... wer-class/
