WOMC Dream Cruise
WOMC Dream Cruise
WOMC breaks away from the same 275-song playlist that they’ve played for the last three years to actually play late-60s and 70s music for the Dream Cruise….never thought they’d do that. Actually it’s listenable today.
They need some competition after all of these years, IMO….

The only logical choice for that era would be AM580. Ever since the shut down the Bingham Farms office, they don’t really promote anything on this side of the border.
WPON would work for 50s and 60s but their signal is not good except near Pontiac.

I really have liked their mix recently. I love 80s music though. Guess I won’t listen to them today.BKRPDM wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 9:49 pmWOMC breaks away from the same 275-song playlist that they’ve played for the last three years to actually play late-60s and 70s music for the Dream Cruise….never thought they’d do that. They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

They were playing 1979 yesterday. That was pretty depressing. Probably the worst Smashing Pumpkins song and it has to be the first one I hear on an oldies station. Still remember going to the concert back in '96. It was great. Too bad Billy is a weirdo. Ugh, that was almost 30 years ago!

I wouldn't expect to hear Cherub Rock on there any time soon lolNeckbeard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:29 pmThey were playing 1979 yesterday. That was pretty depressing. I like the SP version of Landslide better than the Dixie Chicks or even Fleetwood Mac. They can play that on there rather than the shitty Fleetwood Mac version and I can accept it.Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:57 pmI wouldn't expect to hear Cherub Rock on there any time soon lolNeckbeard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 12:29 pmThey were playing 1979 yesterday. Shame it's only for the weekend. I've been listening all day. I'm loving it.
And the regular playlist is like 50 songs, not 275

Re: WOMC Dream Cruise
I wanted to try out WOMC for some 60’s tunes, but I tried 4 or 5 times and every time was an ad break. When i waited out one of the breaks, I was treated to Smashmouth. Ugh. This is why I only listen to WOMC for probably 15 minutes per year, despite being #1 on my presets.

The dream cruise is stupid. A bunch of people sitting in chairs watching cars drive down the street.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

When I lived out there, it was the perfect weekend to go out of town. Such a hassle for the locals who aren't interested.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 6:05 pmThe dream cruise is stupid. A bunch of people sitting in chairs watching cars drive down the street.
Several other main drags (Gratiot, Telegraph, Fort, etc) do it too, but nowhere near the publicity.
Re: WOMC Dream Cruise
I'll happily offer all of my walls. And for the record, this year's Telegraph Cruise was just as stupid.ToneLoc wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:19 pmThis comment should be framed and hung up on every wall in Metro Detroit.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 6:05 pmThe dream cruise is stupid. Re: WOMC Dream Cruise
I can't speak for the Woodward or Gratiot or other cruises.
But as far as the Telegraph and Fort Street Cruises, I think you may be missing the point.
See the big camper set up, people grilling, folks just talking to each other?
Good chance it's literally a yearly family reunion. All kidding aside.
For many sitting around at a cruise, they couldn't tell you the difference between a 1968 Buick Skylark and a 1972 Dodge Challenger. It's not what they are there for. Unless some car does a burnout or gets pulled over by the cops, many are not even paying attention to what's going on the pavement. What you are seeing is friends and family using the cruise as a reason to get together and laugh and talk and catch up and stuff like that.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. There's no going back, and we can only go forward before we run out of runway.

Just the response I'd expect from someone who moved here from stodgy Grand Rapids. If there's anyone cruising E. Beltline, on a day when it's not snowing, they're probably rocking out to the Bill Gaither Trio.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 6:05 pmThe dream cruise is stupid. We love our classic cars. I come from two generations of auto workers, and probably a dozen relatives who worked in the industry...some of them on the assembly lines. I own 3 classic cars myself. Go drive your Prius out of town, and let us have our cruise once a year.
