Where the hell is Erie County?
Heard it mentioned on multiple WWJ traffic reports this afternoon regarding an I-75 traffic backup near Monroe. On at least four separate reports, the reporter mentioned backups to mile marker 12 ("into Erie County").
Did our favorite WWJ traffic reporter mean Lucas County, OH? Perhaps Erie ROAD (near Luna Pier)?

Erie County, Ohio, is on the North Shore. Its county seat is Sandusky. I-75 doesn't go anywhere near there. WWJ comes in decently there, though.
There is no Erie County, Michigan, or Ontario.

There is Erie Michigan, which is just before Monroe and north of Temperance. Btw, if you are ever there check out The Erie Restaurant. https://www.erierestaurant.com/

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!
Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
Has to be Erie Road. There is construction north of there. If it was reported at the time you posted, it would be our buddy Jim Hughes with another screwup.

Website brags on their breakfast but they don't open until 8, and they are closed on Sundays.Riff Raff wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 6:05 pmThere is Erie Michigan, which is just before Monroe and north of Temperance. Life is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. There's no going back, and we can only go forward before we run out of runway.
Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
Probably no one remembers this. A group of people tried to form an Erie County. I'm guessing it was about 40 years ago. Basically divide Wayne County in two. They got a state senator or representative to introduce a bill in Lansing that didn't go anywhere.

Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
I doubt WWJ would mention any traffic reports in Sandusky or Erie County for that matter.
Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
WWJ Traffic has on occasion mentioned traffic issues and/or road closures on I-75 in northern Ohio, and I'm pretty certain that during summer I've heard them mention issues between here and the Sandusky/Cedar Point area, knowing that it's a popular destination for Michigan families.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 3:18 pmI doubt WWJ would mention any traffic reports in Sandusky or Erie County for that matter.
Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
I thought that the commercial Detroit radio stations didn't mention Ohio or Ontario very often.

I didn't hear this, but it makes me wonder if traffic reports for Buffalo are being done in Detroit... Buffalo is in Erie County, NY.

Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
They will mention a major accident in Toledo especially if it backs up into Michigan. Just this week, they had two in one report on I-75: Alexis Road and near the bridge over the Maumee. For the former it was even mentioned to use either Telegraph or Dixie/Detroit Ave to get around it.
The only time I’ve heard Windsor mentioned is if it’s major near the bridge or tunnel.
I’ve also heard the Lansing and Jackson areas mentioned if it’s major. Same for the Mackinac Bridge.

Re: Where the hell is Erie County?
They have mentioned backups and accidents in the Flint and Tri-Cities area quite a bit. I have also heard many reports of accidents on I94 and I96 heading west. Also some backups on the Ohio Turnpike. So, yes, they do report things that are not in the immediate Detroit metro area.
