Re: PARTY 103.3 Over/Under
I'm wondering if Party 103.3 is using the same voiceover that Q96.9 was using in back in the day, the station imaging sounds similar.
Re: PARTY 103.3 Over/Under
I believe it is and the same one 1520am had for awhile, when it was Dominion 1520.

Q96.9 used Mark Discroll, Mr. Voice. He passed away back in August. Not sure who the voice over is on Party, but it's for sure not him.
Here's some work he did for 96.9, actually, I believe this was the 96.9 that never launched! https://youtu.be/fMSg2yYlrVk

Those spots were very well done! We'll NEVER see TV commercials of that quality in a million years for a radio station ever again probably.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "96.9 that never launched." Are your referring to the fact the station (based on the spots) was originally intended to have more of a classic gold component?

Correct, I believe when they actually launched they were much more contemporary and went directly at Kiss. I think the version we see in that spot would have been a hit on 101.5 and 105.5 (at the time). I could be wrong, but I recall them coming out of the gate with dance leaning CHR. It was a cool sound, reverb on the mics and just an overall large market vibe. I believe during the launch WTOL was in studio showing Driscoll doing live sweepers. The format didn't fit Toledo but it was cool to hear and watch while it was around.

On TopHour, there was a TOH ID for Dominion 1520 Jamz. I'm pretty sure that's Driscoll in the VO for both Dominion and Q96.9. I like the way he said Toledo.
You could tell how old those ads are as the Mud Hens were still at Ned Skeldon and the old Muddy design, plus seeing Imagination Station as Cosi. I doubt 96.9's signal ever reached Cedar Point though.

Yeah Q96.9 was nothing like what those commercials feature it as, it was mostly dance music. To me, Q was like a wasteland, I honestly was trying to figure exactly what they were doing. I don't think they even knew!
WNKL's stick is in Wauseon so that's, a good hour and a half from Sandusky.

I always forget that Andrew Z left Flint/Saginaw for a bigger shit hole.

When Kim Carson wrote in the trades about 96.9 she implied it was supposed be CCM like Dominion 1520.radioandtventhusiast wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 12:27 pmOn TopHour, there was a TOH ID for Dominion 1520 Jamz. Toledo is a big upgrade over Flint and it's an upgrade over Saginaw, too.
In each instance, I'm referring to the cities proper.

Agreed, at least compared to Flint. I haven’t been in Saginaw in ages so I can’t compare.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 6:05 amToledo is a big upgrade over Flint and it's an upgrade over Saginaw, too.

Lol somewhere being in the state of Michigan automatically makes it better than anywhere in Ohio. Flint, Highland Park, and Benton Harbor are all better than Columbus!
