Not sure if they are from 1991, but YouTube has some Z-Rock content along with old Metal Shop radio weekly shows.
Re: 1991 Z-rock Airchecks?
Someone had a full hour of WZRC 106.7 Chicago from 1987 but it must of gotten taken down. Cool stuff that would never ever be played on any rock station today.

Z-Rock 102.7 back in the early 90's was an incredible station. I really do miss that station.

I have a couple of liners on my YouTube channel. That's it until I can find more.

Somewhere, I either have, or had tapes of WCZR Elyria Cleveland, WZRZ Hamilton-Cincinnati, and AM 1480 WZRC New York. I'll do some digging.

Not Z-Rock related, but I know being an LLZ guy back when, you might appreciate this.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 10:07 amSomewhere, I either have, or had tapes of WCZR Elyria Cleveland, WZRZ Hamilton-Cincinnati, and AM 1480 WZRC New York. I'll do some digging.

Fantastic!
I would've been in Orlando at the time.
Sad, how Wheels was on borrowed time in 1994, but still sounds better than today.

There is one...exactly ONE song on that list you MIGHT hear today, and that is the Eddie Money song, though AOR stalwart Eddie Money is slipping away now, too. You wouldn't get a top 1000 now, either.

I'm too young to remember the short live Z-rock in Cleveland but I had a co-worker tell me about, when he was in high school that station had a bit of a following they year it was on. He grew up around Parma Heights I believe.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 10:07 amSomewhere, I either have, or had tapes of WCZR Elyria Cleveland, WZRZ Hamilton-Cincinnati, and AM 1480 WZRC New York. Cool hearing WLLZ, I caught Wheels at the very end in 1995, when they were trying to be 89x.

Believe it or not, in 1992, when Metal began to fade into Modern Rock, Z-Rock began to play Eddie Money, Foreigner, and a lot of other lame stuff. This is around the time that the Z-Rock Shark logo appeared. I've often wanted to ask Lee Abrams "What we're you THINKING?!!"Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 4:57 pmLet me say this before I hijack the the thread:Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 4:41 pmFantastic!

There was also a U.S. program called "The Z Rock 50" (with Dave Bolt or Volt) & sometimes Ward Cleaver (NOT the late dad of "Leave It To Beaver") counting down the Top 50 songs of the week in rock, grudge & alternative from 1991 till December of 1996.

I loved Z-rock as a kid (where I Could hear it). When K-rock was on 97.1, it kind of reminded me of a "Fresher" Z-rock (and I loved it)

There is a video out there of Lee Abrams explaining what Z Rock was. His words were something along the lines of "It's painfully current, no classic rock except for a few anthems".Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 2:37 pmBelieve it or not, in 1992, when Metal began to fade into Modern Rock, Z-Rock began to play Eddie Money, Foreigner, and a lot of other lame stuff. Methinks the Z Rock at 102.7 was merely licensed. We had local talent here.
