Maybe the state could round up some prisoners for you to work for free. We could make it a movie and call it "The Help 2".Bryce wrote: ↑Wed May 26, 2021 8:29 pmAt this moment, in the State of Michigan, you are eligible for up to 336.00 in state unemployment with an additional 300.00 kicked in and on top of that by the federal government due to a Biden extension.
Pretty tough for a guy like me that pays 500.00 a week as a starting wage to attract people. I won't go higher for two reasons. 1, my business model is based upon this wage, which I think is very fair. And 2, with this position, there is a fair amount of training that needs to be done. Why should colleges charge to teach people how to do things and I have to pay people more than 500.00 per week to do the same thing?

I am sure the horsies will appreciate the break from your 6 AM "meetings" with them. They are the winners in all this.G G wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 2:48 am It's 2:46AM in the morning and I'm having to work on a project because a contractor of ours dipped out on us because he could make more doing nothing than he does working. I consider that a problem, and not one caused by the wage we pay, but a problem created by the government incentivizing sloth.

One year later, the fear is real.
The front page of this post was a fascinating read.
And from another thread just 3 days prior about inflation:
This may be the understatement of the year right here.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 4:09 pm I don't think it's going to be severe by any stretch, but it will be noticeable.

All that petrol flooding out the US 'strategic oil reserves' sure did give a H*** relief! Shine wore off that silly PR stunt mere weeks after OBiden limped it out the doors of the School Of Original Thought. $4.59/gal for reg is now average around here, a higher than the then-record average price when the puppet revealed that plan of brilliance.
Barack is certainly happy - his goal of $5+ /gallon gas is finally (becoming) reality, a well-publicized goal of his never attained when he was visibly at the helm.
Socialism marches on ... how long 'til "It's the economy, stupid!" resurfaces as a campaign slogan against the party from which it originated?

"Enjoy every sandwich."
Re: Joey Biden's gas lines and inflation
We may not be short on gasoline, but we ARE short on refining capacity. And for that, I place much of the blame on Biden as well as on all the power-hungry leftists who shut everything down during the first year of Covid.
Let's start with Russia. Biden showed weakness on the part of the US with his disasterous withdrawal from Afghanistan. I believe that was the catalyst that led to Putin invading Ukraine, which ultimately led to our ban on Russian oil and refinded products, which account for 8% of our supply right there.
But perhaps more importantly, what we're seeing now is the consequences of shutting down large segments of the economy for a year or more. During the pandemic, demand for gasoline and oil crashed, so what did we do? We shut down some of our oil refineries. And since there's no way in hell Biden or his cronies will do anything to ramp up our refining capacity (the demand of which SHOULD have been anticipated once the economy got chugging along again), we're on the verge of a major shortage of refining capacity. Then throw general inflation into the mix (which also is largely due to our over-reaction to Covid), along with Biden's continued animosity towards fossil fuels, and here we are.
I'm sorry, but I believe the vast majority of this problem was avoidable and was caused by politicians. And to the extent this isn't all Biden's fault, much of the additional blame belongs on the leftists running most of Europe.

Re: Joey Biden's gas lines and inflation
Other than the dip for the "pandemic", domestically, we're still NOT producing as much as we were for the last SIX years. The administration campaigned on "going green" and has been basically doing NOTHING to encourage production recovery from the 2020 dip. As the largest consumer on the planet, WE set the global price on gas and oil, based on OUR demand and supply. WE could be putting the pinch on Russia despite the EU's reliance on them.
With the puppet President, the VP, the Sec or Energy, and the Sec of Transportation all in place, we have our Four Horseman when it comes to our country's success.
On a somewhat-related note, I'm curious about this: When the 2020 dip in demand happened and prices dropped to record lows, did we top-off the Strategic Reserves?? Would have seemed like an ideal time, as the price was right and would have kept the industry busy for a bit until demand started to recover. I'm sure the information is out there, I just haven't poked around to check.

Re: Joey Biden's gas lines and inflation
If memory serves we did add to the reserves.
Re: Joey Biden's gas lines and inflation
And isn't that largely due to the priorities set by THIS administration??MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 11:21 am ...
Oil and gas conglomerates are hesitant to expand refining capacity when most new cars sold 10 to 15 years from now will be EVs or hybrids.
Re: Joey Biden's gas lines and inflation
Barring some major technological advancements in the near future, this forced migration from gas to electric cars on what is an unrealistic time scale is an unmitigated disaster waiting to happen. I'm all for electric vehicles, and someday we'll get there. But let the free market decide the timing.

The problem is oil Baron greed. When you have oil companies tripling profits, something is very wrong. It’s time to start an anti trust investigation. And I do blame Biden for letting it happen, but the Republicans deserve equal blame.
