WHNN is kicking DVD's ass on my stereo at the moment. I can't tell.

The stereo pilot is lit on my home receiver but the audio definitely sounds muddy, and channel separation is mediocre.

I heard 50 Cent on there the other day and almost swerved off the road. What is their format exactly? It doesn't seem so long ago when they were dominating. Where are they at now?

Re: WDVD
Ratings wise, they've performed quite well of late.
They've even ahead of WKQI in ages 6+. That's been the case for at least four straight months now. 2021 has been a good year for them.
WDVD's best ratings have generally occurred when the station straddles the fence between Hot AC and CHR, which is exactly what they're doing these days.

Re: WDVD
50 cent hasn't had a hit in over a decade. How is that CHRish?
An almost 20 year old rap song doesn't fit either format.
But if it works, it works!

Tempo... that's how. And the fact it is a hip-hop song that was a major top 40 hit.
95.5 plays a good amount of old music, too.

I'll stick to the Bounce, lol. I don't want my ears to experience 2021 music mixed with the classics

Re: WDVD
The current Hot AC/ACHR formula seems to be "out of format" at night. Q104 in Cleveland airs Hip Hop after 10 pm. 99-1 The Mix (WMYX) is getting more out of it's original format. 99-The Mix was just like Sunny 95 in Columbus, More Classic AC than Current, bordering on Adult Hits. Glad to see the mix stepping it up.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 12:05 am50 cent hasn't had a hit in over a decade. How is that CHRish?

So.... Formulas change. People recognize that it's not 1822 anymore.

Re: WDVD
I guess it's just weird to me because WDVD made it a point for years to tout "without the rap", even editing rap breaks out of songs.
Perhaps adults 20 years ago didn't wanna hear the rap. Now the adults in the demo grew up with these rap songs being major hits. Remember, CHR went heavy rhythmic around 2002 or so. It makes sense.
