Tom Skinner?
On all of the newscasts Friday night, they took time out to mention the passing of Tom Skinner. They talked about how he was involved in sports and broadcasting. Did he work at any of the local stations? Google didn't really find anything for him.

Re: Tom Skinner?
I googled "Tom Skinner Sports" and found his obit. Here's a copy and paste from it:smallwonder wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 5:30 amOn all of the newscasts Friday night, they took time out to mention the passing of Tom Skinner. "... He was an independent contractor as a Broadcaster and sports writer with the Local Comcast Station, the Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) and various radio stations in Michigan to name just a few. He was the broadcaster for many schools sporting events as well as several Super Bowls over the years. Tom lived life passionately. He loved the support from the Montrose community and was so proud of his broadcasting students there. He was a very detailed, dramatic, and LONG storyteller as we all know. Tom loved sharing his broadcasting exploits of his time spent at the 1984 Summer Olympics in L.A. with his cousin Rooster. He always had a story to tell of his many other escapades in his exceptional life. He was the King of Pun. Tom lived and breathed sports - especially for the University of Michigan and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Tom could recite sports statistics in his sleep and was always up for a sports trivia challenge. He never remembered to take the garbage out, but he could certainly tell you who was last at bat in the 1984 World Series ... "
Re: Tom Skinner?
Tom is an all around good guy.He knows his sports, and loved to talk about Detroit pro teams as well as local high school sports. He was also passionate about training students in the world of broadcasting.
Re: Tom Skinner?
Tom was a true local sports journalist. He knew his craft and local sports team appreciated the care he took in his coverage.
Unfortunately far too many stations and newspapers are getting rid of local sports coverage — saying it’s too expensive and not of interest to local viewers. The excuse is BS. Prime example would be how Tom handled his business and grew a fan base.
Just wish the 25-66 In Over Her Head News Director who loves to promote her own sports background would grow a backbone and make changes to reverse the dis-investment in local sports spurred by regional news Director Lame Michaelsen and the former GM/egomaniac.
