If I could hear them just drop the stylus at the very beginning of a cue burned 45 again, I'd like that.

I'll have to check out the online stream.
For what it's worth, I like the new name.

Well, the very first song I'm hearing is a really awful mash-up of Papa Roach's "Last Resort" with some other song. It's so bad I had to tune out.
Will sample the station again later.

We are a good 20 years past the era where Art would be hosting an all-request Saturday afternoon, and I could ask for, get and crank up "Cara Mia" by Jay and the Americans in my '77 LeSabre coupe.
Are the WOAP studios still on M-52? I used to travel past them as a kid going through Owosso and was on that route just a couple of weekends ago, that building is not as easy to pick out these days.

Yep. Still on M52.
Canos' agreement with Sima specifies monthly installments of $12,000. I've often wondered if they are able to pull that off, or come close.
The translator is actually licensed to Saginaw, but is on the WOAP tower. I'd be trying to find a way to hang it on a tower in Flint, if that's even a remote possibility.

Townsquare, sadly, seems to not give two rips about WQUS.
That station has also endured severe interference in NE Oakland County and NW Macomb County from the Family Life Radio translator in Rochester. Places where WQUS previously came in quite well, such as Romeo, Clarkston, Oxford and Lake Orion, now get a mish mash of the two signals to varying degrees.
I would love to know why the Owosso translator chose 103.1 as opposed to 103.3, which is seemingly wide open in that neck of the woods.

The translator was originally licensed to Saginaw, and in the early days, it was sometimes difficult to change frequencies. I don't see offhand why they couldn't be on 103.3 under newer rules, at least at some nearby location. It almost looks like they were trying to destroy WQUS's signal near Flint. For a long time, the Corporate Engineer at Townsquare was out in California, and in my opinion, didn't understand the area and market. Dennis Murray at WKLT, according to several sources, put a translator on the WKLZ tower on 95.5 to destroy the Glen Arbor 95.5 station's fringe signal. Del Reynolds raised Cain and he made them change it to 95.3.

I definitely subscribe to that theory.

MW, you're a finance guy. What are the chances they are making those 12K per month note payments?

Flipping through the dial this morning and WOAP was airing the La Ponderosa Spanish format. Temporary glitch, or did the Portal lease expire 12/31?

I'm in the Lansing area and still hearing the regional Mexican music on 103.1 as of 8:18pm. I understand enough Spanish to know it's a straight WMJH simulcast, commercials and all. No mention of any changes on the WOAP website or Facebook page. They were still airing the Portal format in the early morning of 01/01 - I remember tuning past and hearing Dua Lipa.

I wonder if this has something to do with Sima. WCXI has been a technical nightmare lately, and was simulcasting WNZK and WPON yesterday. Is it possible that he's in the process of taking back WMJH and WOAP? The description of what's occurring sounds like it. Let's not forget those 12K monthly payments...
