H*** Show & Michigan Sports Network to 96.1 FM
H*** Show & Michigan Sports Network to 96.1 FM
In one of the worst kept secrets in local radio. The Michigan Sports Network is moving from Cumulus to iHeartRadio.

Re: H*** Show & Michigan Sports Network to 96.1 FM
I wondered aloud if this might occur more than 30 days ago.
This is probably a good move for iHM (96.1 has had dreadful ratings since Jim & Drew left; they desperately need a local show in PM drive), and it's certainly a good move for Tiny.
Will The Ticket network be kaput? Now we know why 99.1 in Muskegon and 1490 in Whitehall abruptly switched to rebroadcasting Nash Icon 97.5.
Will be interesting to see if 1340/106.1 flip.
If we won't be hearing Max Kellerman in mornings, that is a very good thing. Cannot stand him.

Yet another reason to not listen to 96.1 still...
Re: H*** Show & Michigan Sports Network to 96.1 FM
Im sure Billys 10 remaining listeners over here are jumping for joy, And BRANNS, Auto Value bumper to bumper stores, the Team gear apparel department at...Meijer AND MILLER LITE are happy.
Now 96.1s ratings might go from 0.8 to 0.5

I didn't even know he was still on the air, no stations around me have carried his show for a few years now.

Re: H*** Show & Michigan Sports Network to 96.1 FM
Listened a bit this morning and it sounds like they're dropping the ESPN branding locally. There were some very clunky imaging pieces that now identify the station as 'The Game'.
Bad sweepers aside, it'll be interesting to see where this goes. The station was essentially built as the anti-H*** station. But since no audience is really left, I guess there's no one left to chase off.
And even though I'm not a fan of Simonson's show, I believe that he'll fare better than a national show. The question is how much better? With no competition and a full slate of sports on a solid FM signal, I imagine expectations are high.

Can we now stop censoring the Yuge phrase? Since he has no competition in this local market?

iFart is really on the BALL (pun intended).
Their web page makes no mention of the new programming. It does show the new logo. That's about it.

Wonder if Nash Icon (which is basically Thunder with some mullet country replacing pop country) will show up on 106.1/1340.

My guess is some kind of flip that clears Dan Bongino. They can out 'Q' WOOD Radio. Not my cup of tea but the smartest move would be to do it while WOOD FM is still on low power. But since that's a smart move expect Cumulus to keep running an impotent sports station to promote GVSU games on WLAV.

Is this an admission by iHeart MM Tim Feagan that he screwed up by scrubbing the afternoon sports show that used to air on 96.1? Looks like Cumulus has scrapped almost all of its talk content in Grand Rapids now. WBBL used to be the local sports go-to for decades. And they dumped the news-talk station a few years back. Lori Bennett and Bruce Law make a great pair. Pretty much destroyed the entire cluster in just a few years.

Re: H*** Show & Michigan Sports Network to 96.1 FM
Would not surprise if iFart reached out to Tiny shortly after WBBL went bye-bye.
The only decent performing station ruined by Law and Bennett was Nash FM 94.5. The frequency change was a disaster.
WLAV's tower move was mishandled for sure (due diligence was obviously untimely regarding usability of the WFUR site), but that station suffered no long term repercussions. Loss of reliable coverage to places such as Big Rapids and Portland won't affect revenue. I bet there are some unhappy listeners in those areas, though!

106.1 could flip to Spanish Christian and no one would notice.

Drew was headed out of iHeart West Michigan to the private smoketer, I mean sector and that may have presented some impetus to dump Jim and court the Big One. If Tim F. did muff a move, he'd not be quick to offer mea culpa.
Never met or heard Costa, glad that he landed on his feet in Detroit, my first hearing of him will be on Lions broadcasts in his support role. Won't be listening to that, longing for the self-focused patter of Steve Courtney and Sean Baligian.
