Weather Channel - 1, all local TV weathercasters - 0
It amazes me how far in advance The Weather Channel accurately predicted today's record cold, rainy weather.
As far back as Monday, TWC was predicting highs today near 50 degrees or lower, with some model runs as far back as Wednesday showing mid 40s.
The dopes on local TV were forecasting highs near 60 for today earlier this week.
What value do Ben Bailey, Dave Rexroth, et al. add?

The GFS computer models have been predicting this cold snap for at least a week. Here is the run for today from 7 days ago:
That forecast has been mostly consistent for every run since then.

What were they predicting for the last 2 days or so? That’s what matters.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 4:53 pmIt amazes me how far in advance The Weather Channel accurately predicted today's record cold, rainy weather.

Come on, guys. It's a (late May) holiday weekend in Michigan. What did you expect, the same weather we've had for three weeks?

I only know I'm glad to be giving the AC a rest. LOL

It has certainly been good for sucking out all the humidity that has slowly began to creep up in my basement. So ultimately no complaints here.

My car has 46 right now near metro… incredibly cold today for this date. Snow can’t be far away now.

We lit the fireplace for a while.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

West Michigan forecast always had the upper '40s to lower '50s yesterday for about a week. Seems like Detroit forecasters don't ever get the forecast right and just make it up as they go along I'm sure they look at NWS, why don't they go with NWS forecast? And not look dumb when their way off the mark.

I would be ok with it staying like this, as I know it's going to be mid 80s and 90s until late September
Re: Weather Channel - 1, all local TV weathercasters - 0
Unfortunately this is what most of the longer range models are forecasting Looks like starting late this week a mid-July-like heatwave is going to park itself right over the upper midwest and sit there possibly for weeks.Heathcliff wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 2:09 amI would be ok with it staying like this, as I know it's going to be mid 80s and 90s until late September

Can we get some severe Thunderstorms or tornado threats with that… this has been one of the most boring seasons I can remember… usually there have been some storm warnings by now or something…bmw wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 9:55 amUnfortunately this is what most of the longer range models are forecasting Looks like starting late this week a mid-July-like heatwave is going to park itself right over the upper midwest and sit there possibly for weeks.Heathcliff wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 2:09 amI would be ok with it staying like this, as I know it's going to be mid 80s and 90s until late September

I've always been a spring/summer kind of guy...and fall...okay, I fucking HATE winter, but as a construction worker, I live for forecasts like that. Give me 75-80 and sunshine. I had to do an emergency job Friday and I was freezing and wetter than a Kardashian at an NBA game. Not what I wanted on May 28.

Not a fan of summer but upper mid-west winters at the same time are awful. I kind of envy some of my family in South Carolina during the winter, they get winter but not below 0 or 7-8 inches of snow at a time. However, I don't envy them in the summer at all.
I work in a warehouse on a receiving dock, it's sort of climate controlled. In the winter it honestly isn't that bad if your dressed warmly, in the summer it gets humid and stuffy. Not fun.
