Today's multi-billion dollar questions....
How much of an increase will Whitmer be able to stomach without pulling back again?
With a lot of vaccines getting to those most vulnerable to serious complications, is it time to not worry so much about case numbers and only focus on hospitalizations / ICU patients and those likely to die?
Acceptable registrations in the queue through April 26 at 9:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Connecticut restaurants and gyms to 100% capacity on 3/19

This is chicken little thinking. The bullshit game of arbitrarily closing businesses is done.Rate This wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 6:29 pmBasically this was my point.Robert Faygo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 5:26 pm2300+ new cases in Michigan today.

An unscientific opinion.
Too much has been shutdown for too long in Michigan. The desire to interact with each other socially is now stronger than ever for more and more people.
It's not over, but it is done - if you know what I mean.

I wouldn't put it past Whitmer to outright shutdown some businesses a third time. This today:
Between rising case, positivity and hospitalization rates, as well as the spread of new variants across the state, Khaldun expressed concerns about the direction of Michigan’s fight against COVID-19.
“We are starting to see a slight reversal in some of the progress we have made over the past couple of months,” Khaldun said. “But that just means we have to double down on what we know works.”
She reiterated the importance of wearing masks, avoiding large gatherings and getting vaccines when they become available.

This went into my thinking. Set aside people’s reaction or whether it’s effective to react with closures for the moment. They won’t hesitate to roll up the sidewalks again if they think it’s in the public’s best interest.bmw wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 7:31 pmI wouldn't put it past Whitmer to outright shutdown some businesses a third time. If this variant causes a greater spread of the virus, we could see the return of November numbers. It's a race to get these vaccines out, and Biden knows it. The newest information from researchers shows the UK variant is 50% more deadly. It's a race against time as it always has been.
They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

50% more deadly makes it... not very deadly.MotorCityRadioFreak wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 11:50 pmIf this variant causes a greater spread of the virus, we could see the return of November numbers. The whole deadly thing keeps moving, but no one bothers to give out data beyond generalizations.
No matter how old you were or your risk factors, you were a whole lot more likely to die in the first six months from COVID than you would be if you got it now.
So is the 50% more deadly thing comparing data from early on, or now?
No idea? Me either.

There were 7 deaths yesterday amongst the numbers you all were stressing about.

Deaths have always lagged behind case numbers by 2-3 weeks.
The low death counts now are from when we bottomed out cases a few weeks ago.
Hopefully with the vaccines hitting the most at risk, the death numbers don’t follow along like they always have to date.
We just don’t know.
No stress. Just facts.
