He was impacted by the Bell Media layoffs announced this week. The mayor of Windsor posted about it on Facebook yesterday.

Another great decision by Bell Media, I know people that tuned in to AM800 on the way to work just to hear Beller's sports report.

Strike one- 89X strike 2- 939the River strike3- Firing Steve Bell Good batting avg. Bell Media. :barf

Steve Bell UPDATE.....I just heard Steve has been named the official voice of the OHL Windsor Spitfires replacing former play by play announcer Toledo native Mike Miller.

I dont know how this will work since the Spits games are broadcast on AM800. Unless they have the lost the broadcasts to Blackburn radio.

The plot thickens....stay tuned.

The only thing worse than iHM is being an iHM wannabe, which is precisely what Bell Media is. 93.9 is one of the worst supposed Top 40 stations I've ever heard. The stationality is incredibly vanilla and boring. I thought the station sounded half-assed when it was Adult Contemporary in the early 00's, but the current programming is even worse than that!

Under Bell Media's watch AM800 has also gone into the dumpster from a technical plant standpoint.

windsor - I have worked in a similar position with my teams. Steve is the play-by-play voice of the Spitfires, no matter where the games are aired. He may also be selling advertising for the broadcasts or assisting the Spitfires in other areas around the rink. Other broadcasters work in sales, community relations, statistics, content production, video editing, and a variety of areas for their team when the puck is not dropped. Those duties will be determined by the Windsor Spitfires and Steve Bell.

I don't see the drama.

Steve is an ambassador for the Spitfires and the Ontario Hockey League. Both groups could use some positivity once the puck is dropped.

Even iHM is now used as an alternate name for Bell Media. With IHeart media being mentioned at the top of the hour and station websites are now at Iheart.ca.

This Virgin Radio is just a network of stations simulcasting the same music with one local jock in each of the cities. Been done in the states 40 yrs ago as Satellite music networks, notably the Wave and Z Rock. Now its done by streaming.

Bell Media/IHM Canada thinks theyre cuttin edge.......LMAO.

I really don't understand why the River was cut. Is it really paying the 6 people who DJ'ed? I didn't think the ratings were that bad.

I read Bell Media also scrapped the whole sports staff at CKOC/Hamilton and a couple of other stations. The sound quality at CKLW AM is so bad sometimes It's painful to listen to.
