Just seems crazy that with all the spectrum/channels available that you would have one or two dedicated to this segment and locking up 50-100% of those listeners. Seems everybody want to fight for the pop aspect and get a much smaller and more transient listener base.

All retirees have smartphones now a days . And a lot of them drop or lose them and have to replace them more often . Ha . Why would I listen to AM when I can stream un compressed good quality music audio through out the house for free ?

Not sure why anybody would listen to AM at all for music, but FM certainly works fine.

WSM 650 Nashville plays classic country every night.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

I thought there were several small AM stations carrying classic country. Have they flipped formats?
If you can pick up 660 WMIC out of the Thumb, they play classic country every weekday morning, or did last I checked.

CFCO and WYCD have classics shows on Sunday mornings and WDRQ airs the syndicated Retro Country USA Sunday nights. I think CFCO also has a weekday retro-country lunch hour.

Nash Icon is available on WDRQ-HD2, which is the closest thing to full-time classic country in the immediate Detroit area, but it's not worth having to sit through Dustin Lynch and Old Dominion to hear the good stuff.

When CHOK switched back to country this last time, they started off playing a listenable mix of gold and currents not unlike Nash Icon. They're now playing the same hick-hop garbage as everyone else.

Some of the steams sound horrible, especially those with digital artifacts. I would take a well processed AM over that.

My phone is on the kitchen wall. Don't know how smart it is.

I flipped on 99.5 earlier and Randy Travis was on. I was jamming out to it, and then some modern crap pop thing came on.
Why don't we have a classic country station here?
We have 4 stations playing the same trash pop songs that doesn't even resemble country. Why?
I agree with Stopnswap . Guess we are a untapped demographic nobody is cool enough to tap .

As I drive to work in the morning, I usually listen to WNZK (Motown and-a-cup-of-joe show), except Friday, when they tend to play EP discs that hit the same riff dozens of times.

On those days, I often listen to WSM, but as winter will turn to spring, the "D" layer wipes out WSM in "The D", and CKWW becomes my morning listening of choice.

Turkeytop is correct, we don't give a flying f**k about smartphones that cost more than our first Windows 95 computers. But we are the people that will resurrect the restaurant and travel business and buy the gas guzzlers, so don't count us out radio- we grew up with you and 'you owe us'.
Classic Country on the original WCIX would be great for me or if CFCO was to trend more classic country like SXM 59/Willie's Roadhouse.
