Lions are returning to 97.1 The Ticket

Post by MWmetalhead » Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:15 am

Just announced.

I guess they weren't enthused with 760's fossil aged audience?

Does Valenti have to go back to opening the bag 80 or 90%? Or can he still open it all the way?

Say what you want about Mike Valenti, love him or hate him, he's never been anything but honest about the Lions and what a sad sack, pathetic franchise they are. He's never pulled punches on ownership, management, front office, or coaching. Did he cross a line reading the Corey Smith ticket text on the air, of course he did. It was appalling and in extremely poor taste. I can't wait until 2:00pm today because I bet he still won't have kind things to say about the organization, he'll just be himself.

Will Sean Baligian be on 97.1 now? They should put Sean on the morning show with Stoney and Jansen.

I'm sure ownership told Valenti to tone it down, he's the main reason they lost the Lions last time.

That's bull. He's the only reason to tune in to that station these days.

The yenta allegedly responsible for the move to WJR in the first place was fired by the Lions this past January. I have no idea if that decision contributed to her dismissal.

My guess is ratings for Lions broadcasts suffered (although I'd argue performance on the field had more to do with that), and as we all know, WJR recorded the worst ratings in the storied history of the station last autumn.

I may be one of few people under the age of 50 who use AM radio for anything, and if WWJ was on FM, I wouldn't listen other than to DX. Not to mention that some cars and all FM tuners on phones don't have AM, and at least WJR was the best of the bunch which, as Lewis Black said, is like being the smartest kid with Down's.

Valenti alluded to the fact that he knew the team was coming back to 97.1 during the show open yesterday. I think I side with Mike on it...win games, I say nice things. Lose games, I say mean things. It's that simple. Win.

Weren't they simulcasting on 93.1 too? I doubt ratings were because of the station

Was that the same PR woman who called the Allen Park police on Jeff Moss back in the day because a photoshop of William Clay Ford's gravestone constituted a "death threat' in her eyes? I forget her name

There was never any simulcast with 93.1.

When Lions on 760 conflicted with MSU sports (which happened seldom), the MSU game would air on 93.1 instead.

Sean Baligian tweeted he will not be going to 97.1 with the Lions. That's a shame, Baligian would have been a good addition to the Ticket.
