Name The Beer 2.1
Re: Name The Beer 2.1
Soylent Green?
Sorry... had to throw a guess out there, even if I've no clue...

Re: Name The Beer 2.1
Wrong.
Here's a more revealing clue.
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
Re: Name The Beer 2.1
Wernesgruner Pils I believe.
New York and Chicago were all in with respect to their sanctuary status — until they were hit with the challenge of actually providing sanctuary. In other words, typical liberal hypocrisy.
Re: Name The Beer 2.1
I think you're right. Never seen it in a can, but picked a 6 of bottles from ALDI some time ago...

Looks like an regular old everyday Labatt Blue...

Re: Name The Beer 2.1
Yes. I was too lazy to put any real effort into it. I just went out to have a beer before lunch. The photo was an afterthought.

Apologies in advance for the poor photography...

I'm beat.
Some obscure brand I've never seen or heard of. Probably not even sold around here.
I'll defer to Bryce for this one.

Re: Name The Beer 2.1
The brand is anything _but_ obscure for those who enjoy German beer on this side of the pond. After a quick search, it looks to be available @ LCBO & The Beer Store.
That stated, this particular beer has been difficult for me to find this year. IDK if that's due to lucky special magic COVID-related complications, or what. It's disappointing because it's not only very good, but typically the least expensive of its type.
Thankfully, it stores well, and as luck would have it, we had stashed a few bottles way in the back of the beer fridge some time ago. Until this weekend...

Re: Name The Beer 2.1
That's got to be a Paulaner Doppel Bock.
For those of you that think I would never say a bad thing about The Orange Man. One of the reasons good German beer is harder to find is because of the import tariffs Trump instituted. Most places wont stock them anymore because the price point is beyond what most people will pay.
TT, I HIGHLY recommend you give this beer a try. It's not just a beer, it's a meal. Skip lunch, just drink one of these and a most delicious lunch it will be. It's in stock and you can get it at:
LCBO
OXFORD ST E & GAMMAGE ST
900 OXFORD STREET EAST
BELLWOOD PLAZA

Re: Name The Beer 2.1
We have a winner!
The 'original' "-ator":
"The monks who originally brewed doppelbock named their beer "Salvator" (literally "Savior", but actually a malapropism for "Sankt Vater", "St. Father", originally brewed for the feast of St. Francis of Paola on 2 April which often falls into Lent), which today is trademarked by Paulaner. Brewers of modern doppelbocks often add "-ator" to their beer's name as a signpost of the style; there are 200 "-ator" doppelbock names registered with the German patent office."

As for it being tariff'd, that knowledge is beyond my pay scale or cares. I've had no problem getting German hefe / weissbier / marzen and other styles this year, usually ~$10 / 6-pack. The cancellation of Oktoberfest in Germany this year may mean more for export.
I suspect that there may be production shortages and/or volume-purchase requirements that play a part in availability (or lack thereof) as well...

Re: Name The Beer 2.1
Only beer that pops into my head with a red can and ends in an O is Karlovacko.
