2021 predictions
What the hell, might as well keep a tradition going even with the shitshow that has been this year.
My predictions:
- One station will go Jack, and might even license the name
- WDFN will finish slipping into oblivion with the BIN format; sorry, but angry conservo-talk always wins out on AM
- 96.3 goes full blown CHR and swiftly gets its ass kicked by 955
- WJR or WWJ will get an FM simulcast, whether by translator or purchasing an existing station (107.5 is my bet)
- 106.7 toys with running the Drew and Mike podcast for morning drive; Podell becomes PD, Casey is shitcanned; playlist slowly begins to include harder cuts
- 104.3 brings back '60s and early '70s tracks, but will play them sparingly
- 89x and 93.9 will try to refocus on Detroit and fail miserably; 93.9 goes back to AAA but with a slight classic rock/alt tilt, Cristina comes back for Time Warp
- Dahmer will finally be out on his ass; someone from RIFF gets moved over to afternoons on CSX
- Valenti will continue to bitch and moan
Any thoughts?

Re: 2021 predictions
Curious why they would even try this? After AMP circled the drain with no ratings or billing96.3 goes full blown CHR and swiftly gets its ass kicked by 955
not sure why anyone would want to attempt to try and pull an audience that does not even listen to radio anymore
unless they plan on pulling Mojo this would be a really dumb move
please don't teaseDahmer will finally be out on his ass; someone from RIFF gets moved over to afternoons on CSX
perhaps a language format like Arabic ?WDFN will finish slipping into oblivion with the BIN format; sorry, but angry conservo-talk always wins out on AM

Christina comes back for the Time Warp? I hope so!
I'm pretty sure the CRTC will yank their licenses if 89X and 93.9 try to hyper-focus on Detroit again, following the stunt Bell tried to pull with them a few years back...

2021 predictions
At least they should split the focus between Windsor and Detroit. As it is, it seems like they don’t even know what city they should target; they have artist drops that mention Detroit, yet during weather updates they don’t even give temps in Fahrenheit anymore (to my knowledge anyway).RingtailedFox wrote:Christina comes back for the Time Warp? Also about my prediction with 96.3 — figured I’d have at least one certifiably batshit idea.

They/them, non-binary and proud.
Remember that “2000 Mules” was concocted by a circus of elephants.
The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

Re: 2021 predictions
I predict...nothing. No changes. Sure, maybe a tweak here and there or maybe a jock or two are sent to the beach, but, honestly? In this Covid world? I just don't see any wholesale changes. I'm usually wrong about a lot of things when it comes to these, but I just can't see any of the major broadcasters changing much of anything now. I DO know that WDVD will not be going CHR. I'll be shocked if anyone does ever again.
Although, we are still waiting to see what WGPR does. It's been nearly a year since that LMA expired. Hm.

Re: 2021 predictions
I would love to hear time warp back on the air.
After a few years of not listening to 89x or 93.9, I tuned in quite a bit lately, at first it was just to get away from the election commercials.
But have stayed with them after the election.

Re: 2021 predictions
I predict more job cuts at area radio stations and a poorer on-air product overall.
The only format change I potentially forsee on the FM dial is 107.5.
89X and 93.9 will continue to bore audiences everywhere but will trudge along.
Either Entercom or Beasley will engage restructuring advisors prior to year end for a bankruptcy filing to commence either late this year or next year.
Tigers and Wings will stay put at 97.1.

Well, one or both of these stations will be boring their small audiences with a different format come tomorrow.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:53 am

It's not even 2021 yet and already these predictions are out of date... is this thread cursed, or is someone at Bell Media reading it and trying to keep us on our toes?

Oopsie on my 88.7 and 93.9 predictions...LOL.
If they flip this year and not next, will my screw up still count against me?
