WRIF now #1 in 6+ "beauty pageant" numbers, knocking off sister WCSX. Meanwhile Wheels sinks to 2.9, now tied with WDET and ahead of only Snot 107-5 and the former Gnash FM among major Detroit commercial FM's.

That victory for WRIF was a surprise for sure.

100.3 and 98.7 have both rebounded nicely.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is WJR. Their numbers haven't been this strong in ages!

I'm guessing the election might be helping WJR's ratings.

Beckmann's show is still a total trainwreck (I made the mistake of listening this morning) and Guy Gordon still gets "schooled" frequently by his callers. Ever since 1270 flipped to sports years ago, WJR has had a captive audience. I miss Mark Scott, Tommy McIntyre, and David Newman.

As for WLLZ, there's a long list of missed opportunities there, to say the least.

Anyone think iHeart might consider duplicating their recent Grand Rapids change in Detroit and going Oldies on 106.7 if the downward trend continues? It could possibly be used to hurt WOMC and WCSX and help WNIC (assuming WNIC cedes the '70s titles it still plays to the new station), and probably not many people besides music geeks know CKWW and WPON exist. They already run Premium Choice Real Oldies on 106.7 HD3.

Wait, is the Grand Rapids change in question on an FM station?

It’s rare that we listen to the terrestrial radio in the vehicle anymore, but it happens.

Usually it’s been 94.7 and yesterday flipping thru the stations happened to his 94.7HD2 which had Yellow Submarine on it by the Beatles.

The 7 year old says “that’s one of my favorites” (no joke) and so we left it.

Beatles tunes have a strong life and it seems to carry to another generation.

What are the specifics on programming these HD2/3/4 stations, if any? Who are the stations listening to, if anyone?

WJR was once a Standard in my house..... I can honestly say I don’t know when I heard it for more than five min over the last ten years.....except to test the theory of “can you hear them in Florida” which apparently you still can as of 2017.

RadioInsight.com, among others, reports Bill McAllister has been shown the door as part iHaveNoHeart's further decimation of the radio industry.

More consequential: the PD of Mix 92.3 and WJLB was shown the door despite both stations earning terrific ratings this year! I thought he did a good job improving WJLB in particular. They've dominated the Bounce in the major demo categories for at least six months now.

The middayer (who also is part of the Mojo show) at 95.5 was also shown the door.

At Fake Wheels, I predict Trudi will slide to mornings.

Will Casey K. move himself to middays?

It's official; Bill McAllister is out per his FB post today. :(
