Great recording, Chris. Thanks for sharing it!

I agree with TVBobN. My goodness - that station sounds truly rotten. If that is someone's personal music collection, it should be left curbside for the garbage man. There is nothing at all "hard rockin" about that terrible music. Rather early in the recording is a truly pitiful cover of "Sweet Emotion."

It's not hard rock but since they give one announcement per 70 minutes, I don't think anyone will notice, LOL.

Interesting, thanks for the recordings! I kind of like their mix of music, though I'll agree its not hard rock. (but then again, I like WQON's mix, too!)

Both 92.3 WBNZ and 99.3 WQAN are on the air. Both stations appear to have RDS.

WBNZ is displaying its call letters and "Chainsaw Rock". Still airing that rock music loop.
WQAN is displaying its call letters only. It is airing 60s and early 70s oldies music.

WBNZ seems to be running a little more power (or has less interference) than WQAN.

If you play hard rock at low modulation, is it still hard rock? Or soft rock? Or soft hard rock?

Many of the Michigan radio station renewals have been getting granted by the FCC this week.

99.3 WQAN was granted 9/16, through full term to 10/1/2028

These others mentioned in this thread are still pending as of tonight:
92.3 WBNZ
92.5 WFDX
102.7 WMOM
105.5 WBMI
105.5 WSRJ

I'll likely check in on these again over the weekend within the sites that post when grants are provided.

Cheers! ~~ Statmanmi

It's my understanding Roy was booted from the tower at the Manistee-Benzie County line some years ago, due to nonpayment of rent, among other things. Without that site, he basically has 3 stations (on a 42 year old tower built for just one) that dump the majority of their signal right into Lake Michigan.

Is that owned by the Bear Lake guy who's girlfriend used to post here?
