Q105.5 in Toledo is stunting

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

Right before Andy Stuart, Denny, et al. were hired, the station was pure CHR/Pop with Andrew Z. in morning drive. The ratings were ho-hum.

This an uber lame move, even by Cumulus' super low standards.

I hope 105.5 enjoys its continued terrible ratings!

I'm not a big fan of this change at all. 105.5 tried CHR in 2012 and limped in the ratings. They could not even come close to Kiss's ratings, and it won't change this time around either. I'm going to give this new CHR format 2 years before Cumulus flips it again. Even Denny didn't bring in the ratings many hoped for. I think they should have done the throwback format permanently.

I really wonder if Cumulus should have stuck to the Hot AC format pre-2012.

Bert Show has actually done well in a few markets, but most of them are Southern, similar to Atlanta where he is based.

But I repeat, this entire tactic rarely works without a major mistake by the leading station and/or a tremendous investment in promotion by the attacking station. TBD.

The Bert Show famously bombed at WRQX/Washington DC, where it had replaced a long-running local morning show show helmed by Jack Diamond (Bert Weiss was previously a sidekick to Diamond before going on his own) as part of an ill-advised switch from hot AC to CHR under Cumulus. It was such a bomb that WRQX replaced it with a local morning show, then Cumulus wound up re-hiring Jack and moved the station back to hot AC.

I guess the one thing WQQO has going for it is the logo.

I do remember that and there was so much backlash.

I like the new logo better than the old one. The blue and gold resemble UT'S colors. The old logo was very bland, IMO.

Either way... Still cookie cutter, lacking imagination, no individuality. iHeart is the Walmart of radio. Cumulus is the Krogier of radio. Expensive and cookie cutter for everyone.

Expect Q105 logo Christmas cookies this year.

After listening, not much really has changed. It's still the same, with a few tweaks. The lame and flacid music stayed the exact same (hurry... this station's music needs some Viagra!), the moniker stayed the exact same, the frequency stayed same. Like I said... Stations play games about nothing, really. It really was a stunt on a new morning show, with new imaging, new logo with the afternoon drive show change as well.

Point is- too much drama for too little change. I am very disappointed. Not much is really new, so "The New" does not fit IMO.

I expected more changed, ie, Classic Zone on 105.5, Love 105 Twin Cities format, old call letters coming back, first LGBTQ P1 station in Toledo (why should I expect that in a homophobe town, from a homophobe company too), etc. Way too underwhelming for the stunting imaging. Next time, don't advertise that the menu changed to all steak items, then serve only bamboo shoots. That's what the stunting did.

Russ, you should have known better. You threw away WQQO's integrity and credibility.

Cumulus / Q105 are certainly following the lame, outdated corporate radio playbook to a tee.

What happened here is akin to putting a ribbon on a turd.

I think it will be a miracle if 105.5 cracks a 3.0 share. Cumulus has not had a clue on what to do with 105.5 since 2012.

Obvious that the show (Eric Chase) is still VT'ed. Still WAY TOO obvious. Nobody hits THAT MANY posts all the time.

How does any station compete without service elements? 1 traffic per hour, afternoon drive.

When they do the traffic, there is no flow. Example:

Traffic open: [Voice then clusterf*ck drops and horns] ...... Bed (fades after 3 seconds)..... silence
(After the drops, while bed fades out quickly): "No traffic to tell you about, just some construction zones. This is your right now traffic." (Becky Shock - dry, who I actually saw VT her show previous, like Timm does).

Sure, 15 songs in a row is great.... But when I drive around Toiletto, I want to know where to avoid.

This station has no chance of listeners. When the curiosity phase goes away, there will be allot of listeners, who will move to 92.5 or 101.5, maybe "Your Hick Parade" too.

As I mentioned earlier- Same exact music as 2 weeks ago... yet it's "the new?" Don't tell the listeners you have newer music, yet play the same EXACT songs!

BTW, there is an airable upbeat version of "Lose You to Love Me." But not wanting to stand out of the crowd and be noticed.... Guaranteed not to be heard on 105.5. And don't give me the song and dance of "corporate won't approve" crap either. Going around the VP's is always done!

I just can't say it enough.... WOW!

Can you say "Cumulus is sweet but it's psycho.... a little bit psycho. Muh muh my- Muh muh my?"

FTI- It's changed so little, the Hot AC show "Weekends with Lila" is still on. "The new" just does not seem to be showing.

It's a crappy station run by a mediocre programmer.

The lame morning show from Atlanta will perform horribly in Toledo.

The new Q105 wil stink for sure.

The Bert Show seems like another Kidd Kraddick type. Lame and performs mostly bad in certain parts of the country.

It's Sauturday Night. Kiss is doing remixes on a party sat show.

Q105 has spots and "Otto" at 8:06 PM. Nobody paying attention to the :30 spot cluster being at 8:06 pm. 8:13 comes back from the stopset with a major party favorite "Memories." How the mighty have fallen. At least on "Star" they had A-Dubb on for a short while.

My conclusion...

Musically- Is 101.5 The River on some hormones... but not quite steroids. Clearly not CHR musically. No new Marshmello/Demi or Blackpink/Selena Gomez (love the 80's mix version, similar to "Blinded by the lights") music. Still Hot to Mainstream AC, updated slightly. The version they air of "Midnight Sky" drags. No change to speak of musically. Same 75 songs. How embarrassing!

Imaging- For the flacid- pansy music, way overproduced. Too high of imaging for slow durges. Do you not use the tempo code for sweepers in STRATUS??? Might make for better radio, if you did. Nothing "new," So it needs to not be promoted.

Personalities- Non existent. NOBODY is trying to stand out, positive or negative. Voicetracks in the morning- now afternoon will turn listeners off. But that happens when podcasts are recorded and other priorities are not kept, within that studio. Funny how they made fun of iHeart/CC/Jacor for doing this same thing. Heard the Bert Show the other day. Just as nonsensical as Eric was. Nothing pertinent or compelling. Personally, I think Q does not offer us any "personality" that lasts beyond the end of the VT. My equasion of this was "93Q" and "100.5 WKXA (90's)" was just as bad as you are. Keep carrying the "bad radio" tradition. But.... anything to sell spots.

Prize- Trying to get the kiddies to listen???? Get cooler. Your temporary prize of an Xbox is not gonna keep 18-49's? It will only get you curiosity, then they (18-49's) will flee, even to online and controllable music platforms. I did type correctly. I said "prize," as they only offer that single prize to lure younger people in. Just lame!

These are just my current observations. I can make other ones as they seem fit.

As a stockholder, I am embarassed!!!!!!!

Wow.... Cumulus is f*cked up! They think soft rock is CHR! Grand Rapids has the same lame tunes on "Hot FM." Why had nobody even thought to check other charts, to see what Cumulus stations are missing?

"Follow the Queens...." no! Can't since Cumulus does not play Ava's "Kings and Queens." Newest Regard (AKA "DJ Regard")? Guess Cumulus is keeping that one a total "Secret" as well. Can't "Smile" with Katy, if I don't know what it is. Forget having a "Girlfriend" with Charlie Puth. Never mind having "Ice Cream" with Selina. Don't forget how you are "Breaking Me" with Topic and A7S. Other missing CHR artists include Mimi Webb, Hailee Steinfield, Marshmallow/Demi.

So NOT CHR. Not even Adult!

Promises not kept, just like Q69-9 did. They also promised to change Toiletto radio too. Now where are they? The "future" you promise, looks just like WXQQ'S was.

When is the new music gonna kick in? Still waiting.
