Nielsen No More?
Re: Nielsen No More?
Radio in northern Michigan simply stinks. I really don't like what it has to offer. I think a lot has to do with the stale formats (cough cough, KLT) and the lousy personalities. I don't care much for the "new" country. I still think a DUKE FM type station would do well here.

If & when 106.7 returns to the airwaves (following license renewal), I predict that's the format you'll see there.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
Re: Nielsen No More?
I would concur with that. Classic country, with a heavy focus on core 80-90s artists -- Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Alan Jackson. It makes the most sense, both from a format void and a financial sense. A classic country will, without question, outbill a sports station in Northern Michigan.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 9:16 amIf & when 106.7 returns to the airwaves (following license renewal), I predict that's the format you'll see there.
Re: Nielsen No More?
I am grateful the internet has allowed me to listen to radio stations all over. Since the FM dial here in the north doesn't suit my listening tastes I go online and listen to stations from elsewhere that to cater to my listening tastes. I'm a frequent user of iHeardRadio, TuneIn, and Radio.com. I think the local market is really missing out on listenership because they aren't necessarily offering what listeners want.
Re: Nielsen No More?
Assuming 106.7 does go classic country, does 96.7 the Bull remain as is or does it flip to a simulcast of 106.7?
Re: Nielsen No More?
One would think a simulcast is a best solution, provided it goes country, as 106.7 has it's limitations to the south, where 96.7 is strongest. And regardless of whether Nielsen is in the market any longer, the simulcast makes it a stronger competitor versus the two heritage country stations in the region.
