Ron Cameron
Re: Ron Cameron
Whenever Ron would give someone a little time to promote his or her upcoming 7:00 WDTK show, he would invariably ask to have his “palms greased.” Maybe Eli thinks the grifter in Ron would expect some compensation for any podcast appearance.
Re: Ron Cameron
Kinda funny: I feel like “No Filter Sports” podcast is filling some of the void left by SportsTalk and Ron going off the air, insofar as most of the guests I’ve heard on “No Filter” have been of the more “vintage” variety. No quite the same ol’ same ol’ oldsters Ron would often lean on, but still. Eli seems to have a better grasp on tech and Google as he basically reads a guest’s bio word for word as their intro!wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 11:27 pmI can’t believe I’m defending Ron but they should let him on. It would be absolutely comical. Eli has a bit of an ego and he’s afraid Ron would call him out. On a side note, I was listening to 97.1 and Mr Positive called in.

It basically is without the phone calls. The last podcast had Frank Tanana which is someone Ron would have on his show. If you're under 60, then you can't be a guest on either show.

Yeah Page seems to be overdramatic at times, stressing certain things that he talks about. I don't remember him being like that, I always remember Bob being a smartass especially on Sportsview with Ron. He was actually pretty funny, too bad the boys don't get along today. But getting along with Ron I am sure is a challenge.uncleb67 wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 2:52 pmYeah, totally his schtick. He has a pretty annoying delivery, especially when puts emphasis on (often unimportant) words/phrases.wtfdetroit wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 2:11 pmIs it just me or does Bob Page sound really dramatic on these podcasts? It's almost stressful listening to him talk.
Here's an oldie but a goodie with Ron and Bob last time co hosting before Bob moves to NY on Sportsview.

I'm sure Ron won't show today. But in a down time wouldn't some good old fashioned entertainment be great?
Re: Ron Cameron
With so many restaurants ramping up their carry-out, delivery and curbside pick-up options, you’d think Ron would be out pounding the pavement to pick up those elusive radio ad dollars!!! Alas, things are quiet on WPON, other than those great oldies!

Re: Ron Cameron
Ron's big problem right now is that the restaurants won't let him in with the curbside pickup so he can't approach the manager and pull the "Do you know who I am" card.
This is the perfect opportunity for Ron to do a podcast or online show without having to worry about advertisers and signal strength. He can't figure it out.

Re: Ron Cameron
I was shocked to hear a host sign onto WPON at the top of the hour today at 11am! I was thinking could this be??? The Return of Ron Cameron & SportsTalk...alas, no. Though it did sound like WPON maybe getting “back to normal”, as the host hinted at a return of “shows”, etc. as Michigan slowly opens back up in the coming weeks. He even invited restaurants that were open for carry-out to call in and he’d mention them on the air!!!???
Re: Ron Cameron
Another week without Ron. Should he ever return, will his dependable stable of octogenarian & nonagenarian guests still be around?
Re: Ron Cameron
Gone like the wind...I tell ya, it is bizarre that ol’ faithful has been silenced by the ‘Rona! Actually wonder how Ron is surviving.

Ron's twitter is alive and kicking.

Ron must’ve used his quarantine time to swiftly and proficiently learn his way around the mystical, magical world of THE INTERNET!

Ron only hows to power up a computer and still has a flip phone. From what I see someone else uses his name, no way this stuff is coming out of his mouth.
Re: Ron Cameron
I was quite aware of that! Ron’s idea of the “Information SuperHighway” was a trip to Barnes & Noble for a free copy of The Metro Times and buying a copy of USA Today SportsWeekly (for the “up-to-date” stats and scores, of course)! I didn’t think Ron has just stumbled upon a new iPhone 11 and learned how to use that! If Ron actually knew how to e-mail he wouldn’t have had to butcher Matt for his eight listeners not knowing he was back on (even though I got the e-mail when he was back on a several months ago!).Mr.Transistor wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 3:31 pmRon only hows to power up a computer and still has a flip phone. Matt is the one on twitter since he signs some posts as "Matt". Ron and Denny will live to 100, these two guys have some amazing genes considering their lack of diet or exercise.
