Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
I’ve noticed WXYZ has been using the scripps graphics more and more in their news promotions. Even their promotions for first 7 alerts weather has the new graphics. Ch 7 is also beginning to use the ghost logo too, like other Scripps stations are.
I think the new opening is right around the corner. Probably by spring.

They should have them soon... don’t know what’s taking so long honestly.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 7:13 pmI’ve noticed WXYZ has been using the scripps graphics more and more in their news promotions. New graphics were supposed to start tomorrow but have been pushed back to a later date. Too much going on right now to force a switch.
Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
Postponed until further notice. That's all I got.
Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
New Graphics appear tomorrow at noon, Wed May 13th. Very simple, the look will be across all Scripps stations. Holding my opinion to myself, playing with them now so that I can use them and be somewhat productive tomorrow.
Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
From what I’ve seen so far they look more in line with what 7 had in the early 2000’s... the ghosted 7’s in the backgrounds are a nice touch. The music is my big issue with them.

Today’s graphics debuted at 12 noon. It’s ok. Hate the music though.
Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
That’s the midday theme.. the regular theme is worse... at least that sounds serious... the other options sound like something from a mid afternoon lifestyle show.CircleWXYZ wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 12:32 pmToday’s graphics debuted at 12 noon. It’s ok. Hate the music though.

Blah. Bland. Insert your own adjective here.
Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
You can’t read the time and temp or see the circle 7 bug half the time, it badly needs a background...

Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
I agree with the earlier remarks. Lower thirds are bland (except for the anchor & reporter IDs, which look good), and the time & temp bug occasionally disappears into the background.
Speaking of the lower thirds - is it really necessary to keep them on the screen for the duration of the ENTIRE story?
I do like the full screen stuff quite a bit, and I very much appreciate the fact the animated "TAKING ACTION" and "wxyz.com" images are kaput!
The music package is horrendous, and reminds me of a mix between the BBC and the boilerplate package most TEGNA-owned stations use.
I'll give the graphics a "C" grade. (I'll boost the grade if the static lower thirds disappear while each news story is in progress.)
I'll give the music an "F". Horrible.

DTE Energy paid $752 million in dividends to its shareholders last fiscal year. Remember that the next time they ask the MPSC to approve rate hikes.

The new graphics are bland, boring and stale in my opinion.
Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
I could tolerate the music better if it didn’t have that stupid high note start that repeats and breaks up the serious sound of it. The tabs that look like texts are annoying too. They’ve had constant lower 3rds since 2009... when they had that swooshes flying all over the screen graphics package.. the short lived one before the orange.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 9:05 pmI agree with the earlier remarks.
