It was an absurd thing to say. Easily his biggest gaffe during this pandemic. I will say this though - anybody who gets up in front of a podium for several hours a day, weeks on end, unrehearsed, on undoubtedly low sleep, is bound to say a few stupid things.
He doesn’t have to do several hours a day every day for weeks... nobody needs what becomes simply rambling with not much else to say at essentially a substitute for a campaign rally. You’d have been hard pressed to get any president in the science era (post-war) to make that kind of gaff I don’t care how many YEARS straight he stands at a podium. They wouldn’t ever do it. They wouldn’t ever spit out random medical advice, or make pronouncements with no backing or evidence or attack reporters. Not one of them. So when you voted for Trump clearly this is what you had in mind as a great way to improve things. Clearly this is exactly what you figured would reinvigorate America. A guy who is his own worst enemy. Conservatism is on deaths door.

Conservatism is on deaths door.
At least as far as limited government is concerned, you are unfortunately 100% factually correct.

As to Trump - you make fair points. I have no problem with him taking the podium every night, but he needs to find a way to make these briefings much more concise and limited to like a half hour on days where there isn't much news, maybe an hour if there's some kind of breaking news for the day.

Like the guy who tried to give him a softball question on what he would say to Americans having a tough time (does it get any easier???) I’m trying to help him out and less of him helps him at this point.

It's EVERYTHING he says.

Here is the running tally of Trump's lies about COVID...

As one who has great appreciation for the written word creatively presented, major props to Slate's Elliot Hannon for this bit of prose that really invokes vivid mental imagery. He's describing what happened on the heels of William Bryan, acting undersecretary for science and technology at the Department of Homeland Security, presentation yesterday:

It was an ever-so-slightly technical presentation by Bryan, but it did the trick—it conveyed the information without peddling false hope or miracle cures. But, less than 6 feet away, it also seemed to trigger some out-of-the-box thinking in the president. Like a lawnmower in summer, with that one pull of the cord, Trump’s intellectual engine wheezed to life. Light, huh? Disinfectant? Hear me out … And then the president of the United States stepped to the podium and said this...

That there is some theater of the mind. The president's brain as a loud, belchy, minimally powered lawn and garden tool. *chef's kiss*

Great call, Lester. The entire column is brilliant: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/202 ... e_taps_top

And 40% of this country believes this cretin is doing a good job.

What is a "disinfectant."? Something that gets rid of the source of infection? Isn't that was most anti-viral or antibacterial medications do?

Nor did he mean literally injecting lysol into your veins. Don't be ridiculous.
