It wouldn't surprise me if this e-skip everyone worries about isn't a problem either. We'll see in the summer. But I think it's a dramatization.
We're not yet into sporadic-e and tropo season, which can run into early summer. Whether it's a problem will depend on how many other Channel 3 signals there might be out there, and, if they happen to propagate this way. I recall WJBK on analog ch. 2 being hammered by DX signals on occasion back in the day. One good thing about Low-V, is that summer foliage doesn't have quite the adverse effect on signals that it does with UHF.
Well there's WGGN Sandusky, OH, and I think there's a CBC station on VHF 3 in Sault Ste. Marie. But it's still probably not gonna have the effects that the pessimists say it does
The CBC repeater on 3 was in Elliott Lake.

I think it's been abandoned, but I'm not sure.
The Elliot Lake repeater is of CICI.

EDIT: Their main transmitter in Sudbury is on VHF 5, moving to 8. And the Elliot Lake TX is going off the air as part of CTV's plan to delete all their analogue transmitters, so that actually won't be a problem

From Ypsi/south Canton WJBK, WDIV, WXYZ, WMYD, WPXD, WKBD, WTVS and WWJ are all peaked out at 100 pct signal on my TV.

I am happy.
can you pick up whne?
No, I cannot. My array is high VHF and UHF. I only chase signals where I am in the “green zone” according to rabbitears.info. The 8 stations above are in that zone. WHNE isn’t in the “green zone” for me.

I use a special antenna for WJBK, along with a combiner to add the UHF ones via UHF antenna.

The special antenna gives me a rock solid high VHF signal. It’s an old Channel Master high VHF specific antenna.

With very careful aiming with my RCA dipoles (one extended four feet, the other extended two feet), I improved the signal to 24 dB.

I am getting a good signal (Waterford) using a big amplified roof top antenna that I use for DX'n. I have a stacker that I use for VHF and a 4 bay on another pole that feeds all the tv's in the house. I can get WHNE but the signal is very low and drops out. Since I only use the vhf portion of the stacker for WXYZ, I will adjust it and see if I can get a stronger signal. Seems like they will need to do something if people living much closer have problems getting a good signal. Glad to have them back!
Why do you use the VHF stacker for WXYZ? They broadcast on UHF channel 25.

Did you mean WJBK? They broadcast on VHF channel 7.

Is this some kind of diplex combiner or just a simple combiner?

Does anybody here use diplex filters/combiners to put their vhf and uhf sources on the same line? If so, what ones?

Did a rescan yesterday and I'm getting all of them here in Commerce Township perfect.

I have had the Stacker for years and it does the job for ch2 (I meant ch2) despite not being designed for it. I want to purchase a big vhf antenna but so far I have not been able to find one. I can get WHNE from 10:30pm to around Noon the next day with my bigger old Channelmaster. It is a large vhf / uhf antenna. I think if I could find one of the large purpose built vhf antennas... I would be all set.

Is there some antenna work going on? I could not pick up Fox2 mid-day today (around 1:30) nor WXYZ.

I miss analog pictures. They would reveal so much about the underlying problem. Now one can only guess.

I wish there was better tools that could be used to narrow down issues then just strong or weak signal meter.

There are plenty of such tools available; you just can't afford them. :D

True, that, in analog, some reception problems like "snow," electrical noise, interference and multipath (ghosting) were easier to visually troubleshoot ("turn it a lttle more to the left, stick on another piece of foil"). I do not miss analog one bit. Granted, digital brought its own set of issues, which have to be dealt with in different ways.
However, if you're enjoying high-definition video and surround audio and multiple channel streams from your local stations, none of that could have been accomplished in the NTSC analog domain.

In the middle of April I must of been experiencing some short of atmospheric issues. I was getting either much weaker signals, and choppy video on many channels during the day, but they were pretty much fine at night. WHNE was coming in very weak compared to when it first came back on the air and how it has been this last few days. CW50 was unwatchable during daylight hours. WADL and ION were also often choppy from time to time. Fox 2 and PBS 56 were about the only ones unaffected, the reset wouldn't be bad but would be effected from time to time.

I was ready to completely teardown my antenna set up and try to reset it up in a different location. Even ordered a new Chimney mount to get it a few more feet higher. While I got the Chimney mount in. I realize I can't do it all myself, so I am waiting to set it up. But now everything has returned to normal.

Just a simple splitter that works well as a combiner.

What antenna would be best for trying to get WHNE now that they are on low vhf and no one sells low vhf antennas. I contacted Solid Signal and they recommend the HD8200XL. Wanted to hear what people think before I order anything. With my hd stacker, (I know it is not made for low vhf) I can get WHNE at night until about noon the next day.
