Toledo's most surprising event!

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

Toledo's most surprising event!

Post by mtburb » Wed Apr 01, 2020 12:48 pm

I just read that WNWO will eliminate their affiliation with NBC after 25 years and become an independent station for the first time in 50 years. As a result, it will now air 22 1/2 hours of test patterns, with the rest of the day filled out with their preexisting out-of-state newscasts.

Where will NBC go? Nexstar just made a deal to purchase WMNT and send the NBC affiliation there, as just approved by the FCC. Nexstar plans to start a newscast from scratch, while failing to improve everything else about WMNT.

APRIL FOOL'S!

I dunno.... ratings for both stations would probably increase if that were to happen :lol

Airing Tennis and golf matches all day would bring higher ratings lol

Changing the subject, when is WUPW going to change their RF frequency and WMNT FIX their damn incorrect station pointers?

I still say that My 48 should be given virtual channel 58, allowing people to press 58, and getting WMNT, not even knowing if they're on antenna or cable.

Hey, I did a rescan, lost CH27 WBGU, but it looks like 36 and 48 and pointing to the right spot on one set.

Surprising? Bill Stewart is fired from WRQN. NOT an April Fools.

Wow! Saved 50-some dollars a week! Fool decision again. He was not the greatest, but it beats a WW1 Sat show. Granted... he was VT'd.

WTF, why fire a very cheap to air voice-tracked program, DONE Locally? Used to be prime listening time for me on WRQN when Jim Brady had that evening time slot - LIVE, and then Buddy Carr had that time slot LIVE and LOCAL. Jim passed, Buddy dumped, BS voice tracking was at least a local product. This is how radio is killing itself- get rid of 80% of your local content- Cumulus morons.
Are you sure it isn't a CV19 issue, or did they really fire BS?
I should have bought WPFX 107.7 and loaded-it-up with all the local talent that has been dumped the past 15 years in Toledo radio. Dammit, radio, you need LOCAL content, and live content. Maybe not- look at the freaking ratings WVKS gets with sh*t from Detroit? iHeartLess and Cumulonimbus idiots.

Bill's profile is still on WRQN'S website. I'm very surprised too. I kind of he was fairly cheaply paid, even more so since he was voicetracked. I know Cumulus is doing temporary layoffs, ranging from a week to 90 days. He wasn't the best either, but he was still better than an out-of-town jock or even having no jock at all. I hope this isn't an outright firing.

I was listening to RQN a few minutes ago, and Jerry Mac was on. He says he's "in for Bill Stewart", so I'm wondering if he's just taking a furlough right now.

Nope. Fired, without cause to be, other than budget.

It's permanent. Not temporary.
