ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
That’s a mouth full, considering it’s just the old Saginaw office.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
Viewers don’t care what you call the office. They only care that you are covering the issues that affect their communities.
5 owns the Saginaw-Bay City-Midland ratings. Not sure why they are spending any time in the northern part of the market. Concentrate on the Flint area.

Well, it must matter to 12. They felt it was important enough to name it that.sinklair wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 5:58 pmViewers don’t care what you call the office. They only care that you are covering the issues that affect their communities.

I feel bad for Terry. He has to try and spit that out every day.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
It may be important to Veto, but the naming convention of 12’s Saginaw office hasn’t made any difference in ratings.
What will be interesting is when we see March ratings. HUTs and PUTs are up across the board due to concern over COVID-19. People are watching more news nationally, so it’ll be interesting to see what impact that has on 12, 5, and 25-66.

I never saw what the damn problem was with "Tri-Cities."
Are there any organizations more useless than regional chambers of commerce?

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
MW: I don’t think 12 is trying to align branding with the chamber. The research shows 5 has strong brand awareness in Saginaw City and County... less so in Midland and Bay Counties. My guess is they are trying to make in-roads in those areas by deemphasizing Saginaw, have a studio up north and provide more coverage from Midland and Bay Cities.
IMHO it’s a losing battle. 12 needs to focus on Flint or risk turning off viewers... and having them tune to 25-66 whose focus is now squarely on Genesee County.

All my life I always referred to the Bay City / Saginaw / Midland area as the "Tri Cities" -- not going to stop now.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
Great Lakes Bay Region newsroom is what you get when you combine a GM who’s not from here, an imported News Director who doesn’t know the area and out of the market “consultants” who just cash checks.

There's no problem with "Tri-Cities", other than it not being unique enough for some people. Plenty of "Tri-Cities" areas in the US.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 8:48 amI never saw what the damn problem was with "Tri-Cities."

"Great Lakes - Bay Region" isn't really accurate, since there's only one Great Lake involved, Saginaw Bay isn't the only bay on any Great Lake (hello? Green Bay?), and short of renaming an area or city, such as Pontiac Twp becoming Auburn Hills, Avon Twp renaming as Rochester Hills, or East Detroit's rebirth as the much-different Eastpointe, it's all just marketing talk. Flint Township could benefit from a remarketing / renaming effort, but it's only been talked about so far.
How are things in "Metro Shores" these days? It's still "Downriver" to the Pine Knob crowd.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
94.5 FM WCEN The Moose (country station) says "Great Lakes, Bay Region" at the top of the hour!!!
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
Let's not forget the originator of it all: The Great Lakes Loons.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
Would be better to rag on 9&10's gawdy logo. Simply hideous! The color scheme and fonts are horrible.
Re: ABC12 Great Lakes, Bay Region, News Room
Sink is stating "and having them tune to 25-66 whose focus is now squarely on Genesee County." Even though their city of license is SAGINAW!

Just FYI - According to FCC, "HSH Flint (WEYI) Licensee" WEYI-TV is licensed to Saginaw. However, "WSMH Licensee, LLC" is licensed to Flint!
