The folks you have to feel sorry for are the broadcast production crews who are getting off an airplane only to be holed up in a truck with a dozen other people just in from some other airport coming in from who knows where for three or four hours at a time for the program. That alone makes me think they should just shut down the show.

My vote would be to reschedule the tournament to start after spring semester concludes. Because school will not be in session, all games can be played within two weeks or less as opposed to the standard three weeks. Players would still have plenty of "off season" time to train, spend time with their families, etc.
The ratings will be abysmal with no fans, no atmosphere, etc.
In early May, the "meat" of the NBA and NHL playoffs will not yet have started, and few people will be paying attention to baseball. That would be a much, much better solution, in my eyes.
By delaying the tournament, the risk of players being barred from playing due to virus exposure would also be greatly lessened.

I sure hope the NCAA tournament doesn't proceed as scheduled. It would be a bastardized experience for all involved.

I am sure it will get delayed/cancelled by end of day today.MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 12:35 pmI sure hope the NCAA tournament doesn't proceed as scheduled. It would be a bastardized experience for all involved.

Duke just announced they will suspend all athletic competitions. We're hours, if not minutes away from the NCAA announcing the same thing.

Done deal. March Madness cancelled. Also MLB Spring Training, which BTW brings in about $1.3B between the Cactus & Grapefruit leagues. Disneyland in Calf. shutting down as well.

Not surprised that there is no MarchMadness this year was holding out hope that it would be postpone than canceled.

A bit of good news out of this. Spectra Food Services, Greenville, NC coliseum’s contracted concessionaire where the ACC basketball tournament was to be held donated 1500 lbs of food to their local food bank.
